:mad::mad::mad:

i was home when the fire happend and it looks like one of our cats ( both of which died in the fire) knocked a candle off the table onto the carpet and the carpet caught fire, which caught the couch on fire, which caught the whole apartment on fire. my girlfriend and i lost everything we own in the fire, clothes, laptops, books, tvs, everything.

the reason for this post is that i do not have enough posts to post anything in the For Sale/Trade portion of [H]

im in need of parts for a new rig, but i dont have $1300 bucks at the moment to build a new rig, since i now have to buy pretty much everything that is essential to live. so im looking for some decent used parts to put together an interim rig. some friends of mine are going to provide me with a 965 BE and an AM2+ mobo, but i will need some RAM and a GPU and PSU. i also will need a monitor as well. if any of you have parts that are for sale and are either from this generation or last generation please PM me. This is not a troll thread. i am 100% serious.

thanks alot to anyone at [H] that replies to this thread.

sincerely,

Bailey

dude...that sucks donkeyballs

it doesn't look like the rig got all that hot...if it was me I'd be washing the boards with soap and water and letting them dry for a day, then see what I needed in the way of new cabling

I've lost stuff...I know its hard, if you don't want to deal with it I would probably buy the remains off you and see what I could do.

yeah, were fine, neither of us were hurt badly. i burned my arm kinda bad breaking out a window to try to save the cats, but other than that we came out fine. we are just trying to piece together the things that we still have that werent ruined, which wasnt much.

I hope you had insurance to cove replacement costs, its one of the best things you can get, content insurance.

CPU Should survive. You have to diagnose with parts aren't damaged :) Maybe some of them will work :)

Dang that sucks. Did any of the PC parts survive?

Hope you had renters insurance. It cost about $125/year.

yeah, the computer is toast. the fire got so hot in that area that it melted my monitors into a pile of melted crap. my pc, which was about 5 feet from the desk wasnt able to be saved. i took the left overs of the pc to work (im a pc tech) and cleaned them as best i could but they were pretty much ruined. none of the parts work anymore. the firemen came in and hosed everything down so not only was there heat and fire dmg but there was also water damage as well.

On a weird related note, I remember when my next door neighbors house caught fire (a combination of a shorted out night light and a faulty circuit breaker) it was weird how sharp the temperature differential is between ceiling and floor. They had an old CRT monitor on a desk. The top plastic of the monitor was completely melted. The rest was in good shape and even more weird some crayons sitting on the desktop (so around 1.5-2 ft down vertically from the melted plastic) didn't show ANY signs of heat.

Good luck with this. Sucks about the cats. Renters insurance is something I have ALWAYS had (never had to use luckily). I have had several friends whose ass it saved after break-ins and one fire.
