Sprint is making noise like it’s getting ready for a big push in the first two weeks of October and that can mean only one thing: the iPhone 5 is on its way.

And early Friday came word that Sprint’s unlimited data plan would be available on the iPhone 5 as well as other Sprint phones — making the number 3 carrier a serious competitor in the iPhone 5 stakes.

Maybe I will get an iPhone; who knows.

Waiting for my T-Mobile contract to end in 8 months or so and I get a 23% discount with Sprint from work.

Hmmm.

i wonder how much of an advantage unltd data will give them over the other networks in terms of pulling in new customers.

I'll put you in the column of not caring, but taking the time to open a thread and post what you thought was a witty response.
Sign me up with iDONTGIVEASHIT. You seem to be taking the time to care about what people don't care. Boohoo...

lol umad?

Hopefully Sprint's unlimited data plans give them an edge on Verizon and ATT and they pull in many new customers... they really are the best big wireless carrier left, alongside TMO

Windows 7 Phone need to stop dicking around and release something soon. They are falling way behind with Mango.

If the people I have talked to recently about this situation are any indication, the general public are still willing to pay for Verizon's much higher prices to gain the possibility of better service. While I won't say Sprint's service has been amazing, it has improved a lot over the past few years and has been great for me.

People just don't understand what they get with Sprint as opposed to AT&T or Verizon. The only valid reason to go with the red or blue is if Sprint has no coverage in your area.

I'm too cool and technologically sophisticated to care about this, but I just wanted to post and make sure you all know it. Seriously, I couldn't care less, it just doesn't matter to me. For reals, I just don't care, everybody got that? Now if you'll excuse me, I have eight other forums to go post this on.

Will the iPhone 5 support 4G/Sprints WiMax network? that would be interesting.

my guess would be no, mostly because they will probably want to have the iphone share the exact hardware across all carriers, and Verizon doesn't use CDMA.

It will be really, really interesting to see if Apple really pulls off the triple AT&T, Verizon, Sprint support combo with one phone as is being rumored (and hopefully it sets a precedent, like Apple almost always does)....

I care about this thread and news about the iPhone 5, so I'm already reading the thread. You and the other guy don't care and yet open the thread just to post that you don't care. Seems strange. Maybe you should learn what the phase "I don't care" means.

This is only interesting if sprint will be the first carrier with the iPhone 5 for some time frame. If they are all releasing at the same time then imo I do not see the big deal. Also as far as Windos Phone 7 is concerned forget it on sprint. They have less windows phone 7 phones than windows mobile 6.5 phones in their stores. In fact they only have 1 and any time I asked about it the associates knew nothing about the phone or OS and did not care to push it.

iphone5 will be here before bulldozer... Ultra fail....

I will be switching over to Sprint from AT&T once the iphone is guaranteed to be on that carrier. I hate AT&T, but I love my iphone. I just wish android phones with the specs I wanted weren't so large.

If Verizon doesn't use CDMA, then what do they use? GSM?

Mango is already RTM, I'm running the Microsoft stock release on my HTC Arrive and whatever people want to say about WP7 sales, the the OS is just fantastic for a phone. 2012 will be the year w shall know how this is going to play out. It's more than likely that Windows Phone and Windows will mere into a single OS, that could be huge.

Im amazed how a little extra bit of phone makes people say its "so large"

I went from a dumb phone ( tiny ) to an EVO 4g "Huge" and I won't ever go back to a smaller phone. Surfing the net on a 4.3 inch screen is awesome. My phone still slips in my pocket just fine. Going from a dumb phone to an EVO was a much bigger transition than going from the iPhone to a 4.3 inch android phone. You will be fine

WHoever said Sprints network is over burdened, I don't see that where I am all my calls go through and my data speed is just fine.

Sprint is the best value on the market today. Period. Unless you dont get good coverage where you live ( dur ).

Verizon, over priced. Like someone said, get Verizon if you need the larger coverage area.

Sprint sucks in the most rural areas. But I don't live in the country and it works great where I live therefore Verizon = not a smart choice for me. Sprint has great customer service, great plans, great phones, great prices.

Ive had Sprint for 10 years. Their customer service was horrible before. But then I don't really care since I am not dealing with customer service but maybe once a year. Not the highest factor for me

Sprint can offer data since you can't actually get a signal anywhere.. at least not in the DC area. This is supposed to be one of their flagship areas too but only place I've ever been able to get 4G is at home in Arlington (like I need it there). Can't even get 3G in most places in DC itself, my phone spends most of its day hanging out on Verizon's network.

Yup which you can hangout on for free. :)

If Sprint gets all the customers that they expect and want, I fully expect there to be a massive backlash as a result of their already over burdened network getting even more high data usage phones / customers.

for some areas this will be true.

It depends on your area. Around me they have went from great where you would always have 4 - 5 bars for sprint in most areas. To crap where you get no singal to maybe 1 bar. calls drop off all the time...

My work has been moving all of the company phones from sprint over to AT&T as it is worthless for us to have sprint phones as we can't get signal with them anymore in our area where employees need to be able to use them.

So in some areas they have not kept up with anything and their service has went to shit for people, in other areas they have kept their servie running good.

Sprint has a best coverage in my area. Verizon's coverage went to complete shit over the last four or five months as did their call quality.

That *is* what is going to happen, and its whats going to turn people like me from MS haters back into believers.

One OS, on your phone, tablet, laptop, desktop, whatever you own, that runs all the same apps (if thats what you want), that handles all the same file types, that is never obsoleted by the manufacturer......

Its the logical conclusion of the Motorola Atrix concept, except this time, it will actually work... Obviously Win8 wont make it onto phones right away, but that is the obvious conclusion...

Win Phone 7 is dead in the water, and as the resident MS basher, even I think thats OK. Win 8 is going to set the world on fire....

Two words: Unlimited Data.

I have been wanting to switch to AT&T because they have much better service in my area, and I used to have AT&T about a year and a half ago with the iPhone 3GS and AT&T's Unlimited Data plan, but they don't have unlimited data anymore.

I looked at my Spring bill, and I used 5.8 gb of data this month (my billing cycle ended today, so that is a full 30 days of usage).

So, I can't go to a provider who wants to charge me $45/month for 4gb of usage. AT&T charge $10 for each additional GB, so I would be paying $65/month just in data usage which is stupid and absolutely ridiculous. I would rather go with slightly less better service and unlimted data and use Sprint's AirRave at my house (the only place I have troubled service), then pay $200/month on a cell phone bill without unlimited data, later night and weekend times, and $30/extra for unlimited texting and "Mobile to Any Mobile Calling."

The best thing about Sprint is that all of that is included in the Everything Data Family plan.

Will the iPhone 5 support 4G/Sprints WiMax network? that would be interesting.

I'm willing to bet the iPhone 5 is the reason Sprint rushed into the LightSquared deal: LTE. Verizon is already using LTE, Sprint was stuck with Clearwire for 4G.

Buy an iphone5 for double of what it costs to make, pay 25-50% more for monthly service, and pay more for most costly apps.

Or get an android phone, that does the same stuff AND MORE, with free or cheaper apps, and have a cheaper monthly bill.

Sorry to all you apple fanboys, i'm not just hating on apple... I'm hating that most iphone people are sheeple, and waste their money on things they think everyone else wants. And the best part is most of them think, and incorrectly BOAST that the iphone is the best.

That's why they get hated on so much, get a clue

That's why they get hated on so much, get a clue suckers (truly suckers, IMHO). It's a great phone, don't get me fuckin wrong... but its GROSSLY overhyped and overpriced for a fact. Just like Facebook. That's why I personally hate on them... and that's completely logical to me.

So you think Android phones aren't sold for at least double what they cost? Why would an iPhone cost more per month than an Android phone on the same carrier? App prices are fairly consistent across both platform. Both platforms have tons of free apps.
