I guess you guys know what this means, right? It means you'd better be clicking on them +1 buttons below each of our news items! :D

“Google will study the clicks on +1 buttons as a signal that influences the ranking and appearance of websites in search results,” a spokesman wrote. “The purpose of any ranking signal is to improve overall search quality. For +1’s and other social ranking signals, as with any new ranking signal, we’ll be starting carefully and learning how those signals are related to quality.”

How long until a hacker comes along and makes a script so their spam page has 1k +1's ??

Because this won't be abused at all. If there is one thing the internet should have taught us, is that the human race as a whole, can not be trusted to make smart decisions. This is a terrible idea. I don't like the idea of people choosing things for me, but the idea giving masses of facebook internet clowns power to determine what I see when I search is infuriating.

WANT A CHANCE TO WIN A FREE 10% OFF COUPON !?!?! LIKE US ON FACEBOOK, FOLLOW US ON TWITTER, THEN +1 US ON GOOGLE NOW!

Very. Bad. Idea.

i dont give a shit about some random idiot, being perminantly signed in to facebook, who happens to click a button for whatever reason and i dont want my seach results to reflect this.

so now my opinion matters less because i dont have any social media accounts with which to click these buttons? in order for my opinion to matter to google, it must generate revenue in the form of clickstream data linked to a tracable account? i guess we get what we pay for...

thanks google.
hope your rank algorithm detects sarcasm.

Wow, its the digg/reddit of internet search validation, where most of the morons clicking don't have a fucking clue about it.

Steve, get some stuff about folding up on the front page so we can spread the awareness of folding with the [H] via +1 clicks!!!!

I might get addicted to +1 stuff!

they also rank on time stamp which is good reason to post date/time in your posts. I imagine the +1 makes this even easier to track. Google has been itching to keep pushing "live" search results that are "now". i miss their older search results which were relevant rather than trendy since I do IS tech support.
