OCZ vertex plus 120gb (Indilinx) $108 after $20 rebate: scorching hot

wow that is a great deal! Brand new and its under 1$ per GB. I think its time to replace my aging 80GB Intel Gen 1 SSD and move that to my HTPC:p

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the Vertex Plus series the first that they released? as they went from Vertex Plus, to the Vertex 2, to the current Vertex 3?

Hot deal.... but I think I will still hold out for a newer gen SSD for cheap.

Youll be holding out for a while, they haven't really gotten any cheaper I got a 120gb intel drive for $165 almost a year ago and they really haven't gone down since. It's the bargain ones that are getting cheap.

I bought my Intel x25m 120gb for $165 AR on black friday so this is a great deal. I am going to put this OCZ drive in a netbook.

Edit: Stupid Tigerdirect has this payment authorization for my Visa cc where I have to type in some password for some account that I have created at some point prior to the purchase. Of course I did not remember doing any of that with my card so I went to the sign up page which had a shady looking url called securesuite.net which raise the prishing flag. To even reach that sign up page I had to go enter my cc number with a captcha phrase. Once there it ask for my ssn at that point I close the window and was about to empty the shopping cart when I notice the google checkout button. It took me less than 5 seconds to get my order submitted using my google checkout account.

I bit. I think my 150 gig raptor is starting to give up the ghost, so this will be the replacement.

I've got an original 120GB Indilinx based Vertex on the 1.7 firmware (which I think is martini? which had more to do with iops than write speed iirc) and anyone on a mechanical HDD will be amazed. Perfect Raptor replacement.

Now, it doesn't win the AS-SSD battle against my brand new M4, especially at 4K, but honestly, I can barely tell the difference in use.

This would be a pretty good drive for games because an SSD can help games but they don't have to super fast, its still gonna blow an HDD away!

You can just skip that authorization step and the order will still go through (might depend on your CC)

Hmm, I want to jump on it, but tax in TX :(

Went through Amazon and CircuitCity.com which doesn't look like it'll charge tax. And since it's circuit city, it's eligible for the rebate.

Possible WIN!

So strictly from a performance OS only standpoint,do I do this one or the 60gb Vertex 3 for the same money???

whats "performance OS" mean?

Like i said, sandforce suffers from extreme diminishing returns over new indilinx ssd drives like this one.

performance,OS only installed(Win 7 64 bit)..:)

How does this compare to a Corsair Force 115gb (24nm nand)? I'm not in the US, but for me it is $120 (OCZ) vs. $130 (Corsair) at the moment for me. Although I'm still not sure if I want to spend this much on a SSD yet, versus holding out or trying a cheaper $50-$80 one first.

Anyone have a screenshot that I can use? I need it to do a pricematch.

This is a much better deal than what the Newegg Webmaster posts every week, which is typically more like $2/GB.

I just caved in and ordered my first SSD. I know this isn't the fastest on the market, but coming from a spinner I should be pretty happy. Between the roughly $1/GB price and the new firmware out for this that improves performance I couldn't hold out any longer. I also didn't want to go with a Sandforce controller. With my luck though Cruicial or what I really wanted the Samsung 470 will go on sale at this price.

What is best bang for $$ SSD drive? I kinda want to get rid of my sata drives they are starting to act crazy

Not a fan of OCZ at all due to a crummy Vertex 2 (sandforce controller) & there low business practices, But this is a hell of a price. If I had the cash extra right now I would order a couple of these for a raid 0 array.

This is my feelings toward OCZ. They have put out a bunch of substandard products; RAM, PSU and SSD's. I really wanted a crucial or intel SSD but I can't afford them. This was an unplanned expenditure.

meh the reads speeds are rather slow so im gonna stick with my intel g2 80gb.

I was going to get an msata drive for my laptop and keep the regular HDD, but for this price I'm torn on whether or not to just replace the whole thing.

nice deal!

I was actually just looking at these, glad to see ya got TD buddy ;)

I have all three vertex, vertex two and vertex 3 would say best bang for buck is vertex 2 - 3 has issues with the sandforce controller...

Is there any OCZ out there that is actually stable and does NOT have any issues?

Short answer, no. Though I wouldn't say it's necessarily their fault I blame sandforce (well they do have alot of the blame they should pick a better controller). I have always opposed sandforce and people thought I was crazy but now days its easy to see all the problems with their controllers.

I had 2 gskill drives just up and die at 1 week old. My ocz vertex le never died but it was piss poor slow.

I have a force 3 and the drive is not stable with any firmware. The force 3 is likely a bit faster, but I bought this drive to replace it - I can no longer stand random bsods.

so It seems there is NO SDD out there that is stable... I guess we have to go a long way before we see reliable SDD drives out there.

I have heard good things about Intel and Samsung SSDs. They seem to be the most reliable and provide good speed, I just can't afford them. It seems these Indilinx controllers seem pretty stable but aren't quite as fast. I'm hoping I don't have any problems. UPS just tried to deliver it today and I picked the cheap 4-9 day shipping. They only try once so I have to go pick it up tomorrow.
