I have a noobie question. I have an older HP Pavillion Dv4 and not sure which SSD I should purchase.

Kingston 96 V+100 (
OCZ Vertex Plus 120gb (would the Indilinx drive be compatible with my mb?)
OCZ Vetex II 120gb (would my MB have the older sandforce drivers?)

Below is my exact laptop specs:

Thanks!

For trouble free operation I would stay away from all of the models you selected. Get an Intel Based SSD or Crucial M4. Read this forum for more details. Search for OCZ and Sandforce.

The controller on the SSD does not need any special controller specific driver for your MB although it is preferred that you select AHCI in your bios and use the Microsoft AHCI driver, AMD or Intel AHCI driver.

agreed w "none".

Indilinx is oooold. i would not spend money on these drives.

i also no longer recomend OCZ because of their recent antics. if you are going for cheap and had to pick from that list, you might as well grab the kingston, although its not a top performer.

Thanks for your input guys. I might pick up a M4 64mb but I was trying to find a low cost solution. Also, if I put W7 and Office 10 on it how much more room will I have on it?

Maybe look for a used Intel X-25M - not sure what the prices are like now, but they are quality drives.
