Deus Ex: Human Revolution - PC features/improvements

I disagree with looking at it in terms of paying more though. Viewing it as you are paying less at say GMG is more appropriate. Each retailer is trying to entice the consumer to order from them, some offer value in terms of a straight discount (GMG), some commission the developer for extra content (Gamestop), some leverage their other products/services (Valve).

The reason why this is done is likely due to volume. Distributors like Valve and Gamestop will likely sell at a much higher volume, therefore using a promotion that is more based on a one time fixed cost makes sense to them.

I suppose it's a good thing I don't usually get to sleep by 4AM then, I'll have a few hours to try it out tonight. :D

Steamworks is the DRM used. So it doesn't matter where you or how you buy the game, it uses Steam for DRM.

You can play without the disk, you can even install it without the disk. But you have to use the steam client.

To all you guys without kids: enjoy being able to play midnight releases while you still can. I won't ever be able to play a midnight release again until my kids are grown and out of the house.

Yeah... my "kids" are a bearded dragon and two tarantulas. They don't mind me playing midnight releases :)

Although my girl makes all these subtle comments about children, hinting at certain things... I pretend not to notice. Trouble brewin' on the horizon...

just realized that this is an AMD sponsored game...meaning optimized for AMD graphics cards...one of the few Grade A titles that didn't go to Nvidia...hopefully AMD won't punish us Nvidia users too much with reduced performance

So 3pm EST? I'm pondering driving over to Wal Mart (found a $5 gift card from work) if I'm still awake around 2. Monfriday, I love you sometimes.

Given AMD's developer relations in the past, I wouldn't expect much in the way of AMD specific optimizations (or those to the detriment of Nvidia). Unlike TWIMTBP, I'd expect working AA for everyone. The big AMD features here are Eyefinity and HD3D.

Better than the shitty ubisoft always online mode. Oh, wait...Steam offline mode is broken. Dammit. And here I though buying the DVD copy was a solution.

It's okay. Blizzard is doing online DRM.. Therefor this new DRM scheme is accepted by the PC users.. Right?

If you are going to buy it retail, I'd honestly do it at Gamestop, since it has the bonus mission. I'd have bought it there actually if it didn't cost $27 dollars more for me. Could always save the gift card for something else.

AMD actually has had quite a few high profile sponsored titles now, Bioware's titles for instance are all AMD sponsored. BC2 was AMD sponsored, maybe BF3 will be? Dow2 and Total War 2 are AMD sponsored as well and are the biggest RTS games next to SC2 (not sponsored by anyone I think).

Just brewed up a pitcher of sweet tea myself....caffeine and sugar...only way to game... :D

Munching on chips and dip while waiting. Screw sleeping before class. I don't have any classes Wednesday I can sleep then.

Just over an hour left.

Now watch steam not start on time

still pales in comparison to the AAA titles of Team Green...those RTS games aren't really big 'gets' for AMD...BC2 was definitely big and the BioWare games as well but for every major title that goes to AMD, 2 or 3 big games go to Nvidia

Haha reminds me of when Metal Gear Solid came out for the PS1. I had to force myself to get my homework done from college before I attempted to play. I still had class the next day.

40 minutes left guys!

I also bit on the GMG deal, but I was able to get it for $28. Best pre-order deal I've ever seen, and it's not like DX:HR is a small title either. :p

Yeah I missed out on the GMG deal with Deus Ex... but was able to get Dead Island for $34 and now I have $5 credit and another 20% discount code towards my next purchase from them... it seems like things are going smoothly for everyone using them so I hope they keep up the goods deals.

The GMG deal for $34 is actually still going, I think it might until the 26th even due to the UK/Europe release date being that time. Not as good as the $28 dollar one of course.

Bleh, I paid $44 on Steam and it's already pre loaded, and I'll be damned if I'm not playing this game in a half hour from now!!!
