The prospect of killer robots taking over the world just got a little easier now that they can RUN! Jeez, the sound of that thing running 7mph will haunt your dreams.

I'll be scared when they can run from cover to cover in zig zags without a boom tether. still pretty cool though, I saw the old rabbit rig before and it looks like they've advanced to a much more stable design here, too bad it can only go in circles still XD

What good is any of this when it's tethered to a boom? The thing is probably so unstable it would flop over in the first step without it.

Good thing there quiet, you would never see this thing coming.

Run Forest Run!

What's that you say? You can't kick those braces cause they're actually a giant boom that has impaled you?

The white version of that robot seemed to work better..

Once this robot can balance by itself and run like that, then it might be a little intimidating.

Boston Dynamics has had much more impressive robots for years now. They've got a humanoid (just the lower half) that can jog/run without any assistance, and regain its balance when you push it.

The 100 series didn't even have rubber skin, and made loud clanking noise as they ran in a circle tethered to a pole. We spotted them easy.
Yep.

I think the chances of seeing Macaulay Culkin rolling a tool chest down a flight of stairs at me is more likely than having this robot try to kill me. Strangely enough they have the same sound...

Let me know when this thing can run a 4 minute mile unassisted (15Mph) like a fast human, and I'll start to get nervous...

I can run faster than that! But I bet they can run farther than I can... Cause man am I outta shape! :(

So basically right now, one spitball and the thing will fall over.

Humans 1 - Robots 0

It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead. Or the boom tether breaks. Or someone takes out a floor mat.

Reminds me of one of my very very smart roommates in College who was obsessed with anime and robots and went on to get his Masters in Mech Engr before I lost touch. If you asked during his undergrad what he wanted to do in life, he would respond take over the world.

There are a couple of times it visibly stumbles and looked pretty goofy when it did.. couldnt help but chuckle at the poor bots awkwardness...

Good thing I'll hear those killer Robots in the next state so I can take the time I need to pack up my porcelain cats and lab equipment and Fed Ex them to my new home...

Call me when they don't sound like trucks being shuffled around by a giant baby.

This is the real reason why Autobots could turn into cars. They got tired of people calling the cops on them at 3 AM for sounding like that when they'd go through town.

I'm not fooled, it's just whizzing around on a spinning pole; the legs could be doing anything and it would still go around and around and around...

looks like asimo might be ahead of the curve

HOLYSHIT!!!:eek:Look ma...No pole holding me up..

Yea man. This thing is unimpressive compared to the Honda robot. It looks like those planes we used to get as kid because our parents couldn't afford an actual R/C plane. So you got plane on half a jump-rope with two buttons that did approximately not shit... Good times..:D

HAHHAHA :D i had one of those, hit my cousin in the face. 7 stitches.. still laughing about that one.

Yeah, I was going to say that ASIMO was running 5 years ago, without being bolted to a stabilization pole.

Nothing wheels with a motor couldn't do for a fraction of the price and a magnitude more efficiency and speed.

But, if you're making horror movies with robots, this might be the thing.

Wheels are great until you put a set of stairs in front of it.
