I have two 2600K boxen with identical Gigabyte motherboards. When I set up boxen number two, I copied all of the OC settings from the first motherboard. But 2600K #2 reboots all by itself. I lowered the OC by 200 MHz to cure the problem, but I still get random reboots when folding big advanced. Should I continue to lower the overclock? Is there something else wrong that I have not looked into? Any other ideas?

System: Intel 2600K
gigabyte motherboard
2x4 GB G-Skill DDR 1833 something
Corsair 750TX PSU
Windows 7

Thanks. Boxen #1 folds for weeks or longer without any issues running the same OS.

What speed is your overclock? What do the core temps look like when folding? What voltage is the memory?

I had a dedicated linux 2600k that was experiencing similar issues. I recently dropped the oc from 4.7 to 4.4. I dropped the 1.6v 2133 ram down to 1.5v 1600. This seems to have cleared up my issue. I'm not sure if it was the ram or the OC that was causing my issue. I have not had time to bump the OC back up to test.

The original OC was 4.6 Ghz, but I lowered it to 4.4 Ghz after I had the problems mentioned above.

I can answer the other questions about temp and voltage when I get home. I left the setting alone that controls other stuff on the MB (I forget what that is called); it is still at 100.

Each processor will OC differently. You're going to have to play with the voltages and multipliers on each system independently.

I did not have much time to diagnose this boxen, but I did reset the BIOS to 4.6 using all of the good settings, and then lowered the OC to 4.0. But the box failed in a new way over night... it was dead with no video signal, so I had to reboot.

I think I will open the case, check the fans, see if anything looks hinky. I am going to upgrade the video card from a 460 to a 570, so today is a good day to do all of that. (I was not folding on the video card.)

Thanks for the advice. I might go back to stock clocks, run memtest for a while, see if it still has any issues before folding again.
