New Vegas DLC: Old World Blues

When do the crashes happen? are they completely random? or do they happen when you go to a new area?

Just happens sometimes in OWB at seemingly random. I went through a bad phase and now today things have been fine *shrugs*

For some reason my 'Making Friends' achievement didn't transfer to steam.

I was so dissapointed in NV I have fallout 3 + all the DLCs on the360 and have maxed out the game, done it all even all the bobble heads, I came to NV and just didn't like it at all.

I found NV to be a better "evolutionary" upgrade to FO3 all around. It isn't dramatically different, but all the little changes and additions make it overall better unless you prefer the setting/story to FO3 of course. FO3 has a more much more wasteland and apocalyptic feel to it for instance.

Man, installing NV on the new rig. I have to say, old world blues looks very interesting.

I found many of the mods I ended up using for FO3 (especially the pipboy light, companion management and VATS adjustments) ended up becoming standard in Fallout Vegas. It really is a step forwards from the original game, adding iron sights was probably the best of the mechanic changes they made. Too bad you can't replay FO3 via Vegas, they could treat it as an oversized DLC and allow you to travel to DC.

Just had my first CTD of Old World Blues earlier, after about six hours played and many, many fast travels. Crashed exiting the Sink going to the balcony. Just save obsessively and you'll be fine. Extremely entertaining, gotta love those brains. I'm not even done and I'm already looking forward to the 4th DLC.

Hmm. I'm playing it at level 15-17 and I'm high in Guns, explosives, science, speech and a bunch of other things. I'm finding travelling around a bit tedious, those dogs and reanimated corpses in their space suits take an awful lot of punishment. I find the whole play area to be kind of depressing, actually.

On the plus side, only one CTD so far.

I'm betting FO3 was your initiation to the franchise. I believe old time players of FO1 & FO2 prefered FO:NV

In general really I can't see how you would consider FO3 better than NV. The only reason would be if you preferred the setting, atmosphere, and specific story/characters and etc. of FO3 over that of NV. The quality in both in those areas is good, but obviously at the end personal preference does play a role.

The other reason I guess is FO3 did come out first, and such the experience was more "fresh" at the time. NV does improve the game, but in a evolutionary and not revolutionary way, and so may not stack up relative to its time as well.

NV got a lot more detail in there too. Nice little touches like a revolver being able to fire .357 and .38 for different damages, unmarked quests requiring you to pay attention to the dialogue which got you more involved in the story and so on.

I haven't played Honest Hearts, but I just finished Dead Money after OWB and at least OWB was better than that. Dead Money was not an exciting experience.

Indeed. Much more true to the original ideas. Would still love to see van beuren finished, but alas, i think that will never happen.

Yea, it is all those little improvements NV has over FO3 that make it better. I mean individually if you look at all the changes nothing is really revolutionary or stands out, but they combine to make the game overall better.

New Vegas $15 and all DLC is 25% for $7.50 each including Old World Blues as part of the QuakeCon sale as a heads up. Better yet watch and see if a daily deal comes up.

I like how some of the Van Buren stuff made it into NV. I really wish they would have finished it but I'm loving NV and all the mods and dlc for it. Fallout is my favorite franchise ever and looking forward to another main release or two. OWB was the best dlc for NV IMO as well.

I'll have Old World Blues downloaded by this weekend. I've been wanting to play since it came out but have been buys with other gaming interests. :p

Finished Old World Blues in about 12 hours played, and I didn't do all the little side-quests... I'd say I had a good 80% of the DLC game world explored. Easily the best Fallout DLC I've ever played. Only had one CTD, and that came at the very end, after I had finished the DLC and just before I exited the Think Tank to get the ending movie. Turns out that if your character is hungry exiting the Think Tank at the end, it crashes. Other than that, smooth as butter, and I went from level 26 to 35. Looking forward to the next (and presumably last) DLC.

Well people have pointed out that you don't have enough snowglobe room on that shelf in the Presidential Suite of the Lucky 38 for a fifth DLC. Who knows, maybe they can squeeze one more in, but there's nothing confirmed beyond the next Lonesome Road DLC at this point.

I might have to pick this up since it's on sale.

I bought all the others during the summer sale.

They can always do an update to the game to increase the shelf size..... :D

Wasn't there going to be 9 of them?

4 DLCs were initially planned, so there is 1 left. There is the possibility of further DLC, up to 5 more, depending on market reception and development resources permitting. But there is nothing to suggest these are actually in any stage of development, unlike when the original 4 were announced (all 4 were in varying stages of planning/development).

Bumping this because it's on sale today on Steam for $5, and all other New Vegas DLC is $5 also today.

So if you like what you read in this thread, it's your chance to buy it.
