Case to replace Silverstone FT02? How about a LIAN LI PC-V2120X or PC-P80NB?

I'm looking to upgrade from my current Silverstone FT02 without the newer AP181 fans to something that can offer equal or better GPU cooling for two 6990's.

At first I considered just getting another FT02 with the new AP181 fans but there's a few other things I don't like about sticking with the FT02 including the lack of room behind the motherboard for cable management as well as being limited on watercooling options outside of a single rad like a Corsair H60/H80.

So I'm looking for opinions on what I should migrate to and GPU cooling for 6990's is first priority followed by noise level and dust prevention. And at the moment I already have my eye on two cases that I'm considering splurging on which is the Lian Li PC-V2120X and the Lian Li PC-P80NB Armorsuit.

Which one would you pick and why? And if not one of those then what else would you give up an FT02 to move to?

I have the Lian Li V1020 and I love it so Im gonna vote the v2120x I really want that, so bad!!

The only this I dont so much care for on the v2120 is the groove on the door, if it was flat it would be epic. There is a ton of room behind the mobo try, the removable HDD cage is a huge plus, and it seems like WC in the v2120x is more do-able than in the FT02 and with all those fans in the V2120x it will be an ice box. The v2120x seems future proof for a case too, and push come to shove this would be a great non-rack mount server case. Great little built in fan controller.

The only thing I don't like about the V2120x is it doesn't thave the grommeted cutouts in the motherboard tray for routing cables like the new PC-P80NB does. Anyone here on [H]ard have a pic of their cable management in the V2120?

I am in the same boat with two 6990s, but not quite sure I have your 400 budget :(

Well at least you can be glad you have such a problem. I wish I had even just one 6990. :p

To the OP, I'd definitely go for the V2120X over the imposing PC-P80NB for it's all black interior and more classical looks. I'd also say the all black interior makes up for the lack of rubber grommets around the cable management holes. I'd get both if I had the money and use for them as they're both great cases. I played around with the original PC-P80 and what I loved about it was the spring loaded ball bearing lock mechanism on the door. It's pretty satisfying swinging the "heavy-ish" door open then closing it to a soft and sturdy click. Not sure if the V2120X has the same mechanism, but I'm assuming it does which would be great. Either way, you can't go wrong with either one.

To follow-up, I was looking at getting the very case you are currently using burning. Can you talk about the heat levels for the internal exhaust GPU? Do you think the proximity of the bottom fans to the exhaust has a negative effect on cooling?

Let it be known that I shouldn't have bought the two 6990s, but they were in stock, and well.... anyway, I picked up a Thermaltake Element V Black Edition in hopes that it's side intake and large top exhaust fans would help the 6990 situation...

Make your own? I made mine in my TJ07.
