in the uk BT broadband on option 3 (the unlimited package) is 150gb for ADSL/ADSL2+
for FTTC/FTTD BT broadband (limited role out) its 250gb
its not unlimited as the site says and they charge you per GB after you go past the hidden limits and they traffic shape p2p an little and adobe flash download for IE (yes i am talking about the installer god knows why they do it as i have to install Hotspot Shield to VPN bypass the network traffic shape to install flash for IE or update it)
there are to many other BT ADSL LLU providers to list but many of them have crapy 2gb to 50gb limits or/and traffic management (they basicly use BT network so technically in the UK there is really only 2 networks in the uk for public use virgin cable or BT that offer up to 20mb bb that on avg is 5mb as it uses phone lines for broadband where as cable is FTTC then last 100-200yards is Armoured coax cable)
so on BT your limited by distance from the local exchange so it does not matter what ISP you switch to you allways get the same speed not matter what ISP your on, unless your on cable then you get what you pay for below
Virgin media cable is only around where the pipes has been put in that's its main weakness (they not expanded the network for last 10 years) but offers the best speeds as they are the only ones who offer True 10/30/50/100mb speeds (DOCSIS 1.1/2.0/3.0) but they have day speed caps in place its easier to just look at this link for day caps http://shop.virginmedia.com/help/traffic-management/traffic-management-faster-uploads.html but annoying they cap news servers now at peak time (6pm- midnight approx it depends how much has been downloaded in the day for the hole of the UK cable network depends how much news servers get speed limited but its norm less then 1-5mb speeds when its been limited but can be bypassed by basic giganews VPN or other paid VPN services to restore full speed)
. It seems that if an outsider belittles these companies, actions happen. CBC said that Rogers and Bell were revamping their costs also, you might want to check this out Snowdog.
12 down, 2 up, for ~ $90-$95/month
BUT NO CAPS
AND I GET A /28 !!!
How many people here have a /28 or better ?
(Comcast business)
50 down /10up 250gb cap for $99 never hit the cap have come close at 230gb but that was restoring 5 machines steam accounts/win updates and my normal netflix/2 xbox 360's on live and other net usage. i usually average about 180 dl a month
My local cable company just got bought up by a big company in New York and I got my downloaded bandwith doubled and my upload speed quadrupoled for $2 more a month.
Now thats progress!
Though last year I got a cease and desist letter from HBO from downloading True Blood off a public bittorrent site. That was a bit scary.....
The business class is ok but the modem they give you is HORRIBLE. Which modem did they give you?
I guess all that yelling to Harper<Clements<crtc, before the election paid off for some of us. My extreme with shaw went upto 25 dl and 2.5 upload (15m/800kbs and shaw raised the cap from 100 gig to 250 gig.
Another coincidence from Telus, The OECD came out with a report slamming Canada with some of the highest cell phone roaming charges in the world, $28 avg vs $9 avg for the rest of the world. The same day Telus changed to $12 avg. It seems that if an outsider belittles these companies, actions happen. I pay SOOO much here in Canada.
Not only is it Canada, but it's rural, so it's even worse.
I get 10Mbps down and 1Mbps up.
200GB cap, and I pay ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS!!!
...
PLUS 13% in HST TAX!
i dont know what the model number was, but it was really big and it increased my bandwith significantly. also had fewer disconnects. could have just been that my old one was wearing out and the business class one was new, but i remember it making a big difference.
This pisses me off! lol Where I live, I'll probably never see that in my life!
How about both, Like the Japanese ISP mentioned earlier in the article?Think about it: Would you rather be paying more money for the ability to download things faster, or the ability to download more things?
Why would any of us move to one of the two or three developed nations that are worse than the U.S. when there's dozens that are better? And heres hoping we never have to move to New Zealand.
Yeah, compared to New Zealand and Australia. How about Germany? How do we fare against them?So how fares the good ol U.S. of A? Our prices dont seem that bad
Don't let it piss ya off too much it's 100 a month and thats discounted cuz i have tv though them 2 its 200 all together!
