Do you pay for apps?

Navfree maps seem out of date and the interface is clunky / laggy but yes free and works offline. Be aware it is a 1.6gig download! I find tomtom is superior in every way but it costs.

I've been using the built-in map software and it's been working for me. Is there something I'm missing?

I do, but I am very picky. In fact, owning an iPhone has made me become a very cheap person. I no longer buy PC or console games. I just buy the $1.99 iPhone games that can be just as fun as the $50 games.

Most of the time, I use the built-in. It works great as long as you aren't way up in mountains where there is no data coverage, barely voice.

Got screwed by that a few weekends back, was just pointing out my new alternative, navfree big 1.6GB download for full locally stored maps for when out in the boondocks, can still reroute and get some directions. Seems to work plenty well for those rare occasions.

LOL I know right? Infinity Blade is so addicting, I layed in bed last night playing for several hours, even though I have Witcher 2 to be working through.

It's completely mindless from the story, puzzle viewpoint. But the touch interface for slashing, blocking, dodging, parrying from different directions is.. just so fun and satisfying!
