CMS Suggestions

With a vague question like that, the best you'll get is an implicit popularity poll. If you don't have any requirements yet, then pick one and learn it. (FWIW, I've seen more posts and comments here on Joomla than phpNuke.)

i was just wondering which would be the easiest to learn and admin, as i said it will be a clan site, so i wont be the only one learning! thanks!

Still doesn't really give us any detail;

What will you be doing with the site? Clan site can mean many different things.

I've never used PHPNuke so I can't speak for that, but Joomla! is a bit of a beast. It can do quick painless sites, but can definitely be overwhelming.

Heard bad things about PHPNuke security & update/upgrade policies. I would stay away. Something a little more modern & actively supported like Drupal or Joomla would be your best bet.

phpBB with a Portal/CMS addon, or SimpleMachines with the SimplePortal addon.

Most important part of a clan is the boards, not the front page.

with this site, i need to be able to allow users to create accounts and me be able to change their ranks, and a forum.....those are the main points, as i can install a forum fairly easy

You're pretty much describing the typical forum software with a portal/CMS addon.

Here's one I did with vbulletin: http://oathguild.org

Here's one I helped a guy set up recently with SimpleMachines: http://vineyardguild.com

Both can do ranks, forums, CMS/Portal, and member stuff. One is free, the other is $195, both work very well though.

i have software packages via my webhost, thorugh cpanel... gimme a sec

these are the CMS/portals easiest available too me, but if they wont work, i am interested in the free one you mentioned:

WordPress is free - skip whatever "instant install" your host is offering you as most of those installs are usually many versions out of date anyway.

This. Just get a decent theme for Wordpress and be done with it, unless you feel like learning the nuts and bolts and making your own. No need to go with an outdated or bloated CMS just for a simple site.

Joomla is a great cms. Tons better than nuke and a lot different than word press which is a blog engine.
