HP dm1z Laptop $375 w/ free ship.

thanks just got one.. sounds a nice little laptop and the supposive 9.5 hours of battery life :D

Thanks, got one as well. I was going to hold out for a Thinkpad X120e, but with those discounts the price difference is just too massive to pass up.

Bought one -- $382 total/shipped for quite a step up from netbook performance/spec. Thanks OP for the heads up.

I was going to pay the extra for the x120e and also wait, but this is just too good a deal.
*and* the dm1z seems to be marginally better in most respects. Just hope I like the Keyboard.

I'd rather have x120e. Besides the hot deal what makes the dm1z better?

What kind of keyboard does this have? Is it 93% size or the little crummy 80%?

says full size keyboard on site and on a few reviews...

mmm this laptop also has altec lansing speakers

Son of a crap I just bought one last week. It still hasnt arrived yet. Do you guys think hp will refund $100 back?

Had a chat with their CSR and gave me a hard time with the EPP code. They wouldn't apply it until I gave them my company name. And then when they tried to verify information, it went down hill so I gave up on the EPP discount code ($22 right?)

Still chatting with them for the $75 code. This is quite frustrating.

Same here. Kinda pissed right now, but I'll get over it.

Call them or open up a chat session with them. They said the coupon code is not valid for my dm1z (bullshit) and I called them out on it. They quickly offered me another $30 (I paid $420 + tax originally) discount/credit to my Bill Me Later account. Got an email confirmation about the credit.

looks like i got in at the knick of time, seen it over at SD earlier. :D

my original got jacked up and on order status and was cancelled and a note to call hp. I called hp apparently something with paypal got jacked up .. not sure.. since it's working perfectly fine. anyways, i had to resubmit the order over the phone. this time i just used my card instead and the rep asked me where i got the coupon.. i just told her i got it from my email.. she said ok and submit the order. status still says processing. says estimated ship date is Feb. 28th..

Sweet, glad some [H] peeps got in on this.

This better be it for hardware for a while. My wife may just kill me. :)

LogicBuy has a $30 off coupon code for the Dm1z: LOGICBUY30

I had seen this earlier and it worked just fine earlier but would have need to wait for tax returns before jumping on it. Still torn between the E and C dual cores as I'm not sure yet how much more battery life you get with the C-50 over the E-350.

I need to do my HP Infolab training. Next time they have a sale on something like this I can stack a $100 rebate with the deal.

I was going to jump on this but I really don't have a need for it. Maybe some other time.

I have been watching this laptop for a while. It would be a perfect gift for my wife. I got home from work too late last night and the code was deactivated. Their sales support people wouldn't buy my sob story :(

Fast dying coupon is fast... I tried to adjust my order (yes, I ordered this a week ago :) ) to reflect the new coupon, but it was already expired... bah.

Update:

I ended up ordering a Lenovo x120e and I went to cancel this.
Long story short, I was trying to cancel the HP order via their online chat customer service. The rep there offered me $30 to NOT cancel. I said "no thank you".

So she gave me a number to call to cancel the order because she was not able to cancel the order since it was "in production". I call the number and that rep offers me another $20 to NOT cancel.

I said no again, and the order was cancelled. Later on I was thinking about it and I realized how stupid I was. I called back (on that number which is a special resolution line) and told the rep that I wanted to "UN" cancel my order. She said no prob and I went away rejoicing.

Then I checked back and the order was cancelled after all. I called again and reordered getting the same deal $325 shipped.

I guess that was kind of long. Point is, I think that anyone can get $50 off ANY laptop by first chatting, then calling. Assuming it is in production.

Peace out.

my order got delayed so they sent me a 15% off anything at hp.com coupon... oh what to do... :(

They sent me a 15% off coupon after i got my dm1z.

I think they tend to throw out discounts left and right just to keep the customer.

They offered me $30 also to not cancel.

According to squaretrade, HP laptops have a very high failure rate. I'd stay away from them.

It's all the same hardware in the laptops. Since HP is partnered with many retailers they probably sell more to less technically inclined people, resulting in higher failure rates.

I agree with that. Statistics can be deceiving. For instance, Lenovo has high failure rates as well, but is well known for being well built. However, it could be assumed that Lenovo thinkpads are used by business travelers more and as such subject to more physical abuse.

Additionally, if a company has MANY product lines they would probably have more issues in their lower end that would impact the numbers.

Good HPs are good. Bad HPs suck. Compaq just plain sucks.
