As I understand it we can use either the navy blue 6gb or grey 6gb SATA ports. If so, are there certain drivers we should be using?

Thanks!

Then, I have a dumb question. Which intel hd drivers should I uninstall and where may I find them other then in the device manager screen? Will I get a BSOD if I uninstall?

You shouldn't be uninstalling anything, the grey ports are the 6gb ports on the intel southbridge and those are the ones you should be using in preference. Once those are filled then move on to the marvell controller.

Two seperate controllers, two seperate drivers. From a technical POV the marvell controller is like a PCIe card it just happens to be physically on the motherboard.

Exactly. Use the Gray ones first, then the Navy Blue if you need. Keep in mind neither have RAID capability.

If you are using an optical drive, you have to use the 3G or Gray 6G, the Mavell do not support optical disc drives.

I suggest you use your hard drives on the good ports and optical drives on the crap ports if necessary.

Got my hard drive and dvd burner plugged into the grey 6 GB ports having no problems.

You are obviously misinformed, The Marvell Ports do support optical drives, I should know...been running mine on their ports for the last past three weeks. The only thing it can't do, or I can’t seem to do...is get them to run a RAID 0 setup! Their Drivers are faulty anyhow, keep getting BSOD when using my system drive on a Marvell Port, but I don’t have an option, my RAID setup is on the Intel 6G/b ports (Grey) and my optical drive and system drive are on the Marvell Ports (Navy Blue), I’m avoiding the obvious 3 G/b ports due to the issues.

So you can't use the 2 6gbps intel ports to do a RAID1 pair?

Several of us are running 2 hard discs or SSD's off the Grey Intel SATA III (6G) in Raid 0 for OS and program volumes just fine.

I bet Raid 1 will work as well
All of the Intel SATA ports are suposed to support Raid 0,1,5 &10
- for SSD's to work you need to have the latest firmware updates for them.

In all cases install intel IRST
