Fella just came up to me and asked if I'd like to use a PC here to look up some prices. He said its not temporary. Yes, you'll pay tax, but its very convenient.

OK, it gets better. If the card is $300 shipped from Newegg, its $300 out the door after taxes from Fry's.

Question I had regarding this policy: If the vendor offers free shipping (ground 3-5), will they use that or use the more expensive 2 day shipping?

Is the full policy:

Ahh, very interesting. Are you at the Mesa or Phoenix store? I ask because the Phoenix store is usually pretty wiped out in the gpu section. I naturally assume all Fry's stores look like a tornado just hit because they seem to be moving the sections each week.

Tempe @ Baseline and Mill.

It actually looked fairly organized. I saw:

Diamond and XFX 6870's and 6950's
Galaxy and EVGA 460's, 470's, and 570's

The $300 out the door 6950 seems to be the most fun.

You silly people and your imaginery "Fry's" stores... About as real as a MicroCenter store!

b&m store and online are going to be different beasts/policies. There are a couple of frys here in atlanta, but an hour away from me.

Do they do this on other parts besides GPU's? Does it work in the Chicago store?

Got a price match on a HP envy at the local to me frys Arlington Tx. Frys price 1499 amazon price 1232 at the time. I paid $1232 plus tax. I think the guy is wrong on the out the door price. No way is frys going to pay your taxes.

They're not. Price comparisons DO NOT include tax, but DO include shipping costs.

Apparently this is a new policy being tested at the B&M Fry's stores.

In Dallas/Fort Worth today's sale ad proudly proclaims that Fry's will match e-tail prices on their merchandise. Now Fry's being the evil scum they are I'm sure they will try and weasel out of most price matches but it's still interesting to see and fun to test out.

Stop Speculating guys. It is a new company wide policy. You will have to pay tax, No bundled deals will be matched of gift certificate stuff. They will match the price with any reputable online store. Newegg, tigerdirect, amazon(only when the item is shipped by amazon I believe). no ebay ever.

I work there we had an hour long video conference meeting with the Top Guys at home office. This is a nation wide policy. Any frys store they will have to match it. Some Jack ass supervisor wont match it. Talk to store manager they will do it, or assistant store mananger. If it is a legit website they will match your prices.

Some exceptions are there, if frys has a rebate on an item and it makes it cheaper after rebate, dont cry about rebate doesn't count. Unless ofcourse the e-tailor has a rebate too, they will work out the difference.

Dont be that guy wants to price match something that is a dollar higher in store. The good thing is frys component prices are pretty close to online prices.

Make it worth your while, try to price match like a TV or something. The thing is they have very high margins on TV's so they dont mind doing that. Even the on sale TVs are either over cost or 0 profit. I rarely see them take a hit on TV's.

I cant wait until I pick up 55 inch TV with 3d and 240hz in a few months, I am gonna price match the hell outta that thing with amazon.

Really good business move on Fry's part if they can turn a profit doing it. Definitely will be spending much more money there.

Absolutely, this is going to kick etailers in the 'nads. Too bad for those that have no Fry's in their area.

that will be extremely hard.

frys, best buy, any B&M stores overhead > online
Yes, but, there is a tremendous markup on many small items. Flash drives, batteries and the like I'm talking as much as 500% or more. That type of thing is where many stores actually make their money.

Be careful, the Frys in Arlington,TX will sell you a returned component as new. I actually opened a video card box in front of the manager twice in one day, after I bought it. They were obviously returned items. I told him after the second time I was going to report Frys to the attorney general. And when trying to return a part I have gotten some really rude reps. Scum is a good comparision.

Two days ago I asked a Fry's rep in the Vegas store near me whether they match Newegg internet prices and was told flat out by two salesmen NO. They said they have only done that for Black Friday.

Show me where this is a company wide policy now.

It caught me by surprise too. The employee went to great length to explain how they'd lower the price so after taxes it would match the final internet price. Would have been nice though. :D

Except when that component's a $400 6950 or a $300 6870. :D

Galaxy GTX 470's was $240 though.

True, but I was talking about components department. The graphic cards are in the computer department. Frys ati based cards are always over priced. I think the buyer is Nvidia biased to be honest with you. Nvidia cards are mostly priced right and go on sale all the time. Ati cards always overpriced, specially the highend ones.

Relax, I work there, it went official starting today. That was true they only matched them official during black friday. But our store was still doing it.

you work where? at the vegas store? I expect Fry's to get stock in on Tuesday for the ENVY 17inch that is currently $200 cheaper on Newegg. Will they match it?

This is so awesome. I live in Dallas and there are 4 Fry's here, so this is definitely a plus here. I am sure you might get some push back from an uninformed sales person, but just talk to a manger. The fact they put it in their ad means they are serious about it. They use to not match MC, now they will, which is awesome. As far as tax goes, look at that as the price to pay to have it today instead of waiting for it.

No I work in california. But this policy is at all frys stores.

True but you have to have microcenter close by. I thought we still weren't going to match microcenter but someone brought up that questions on cpu's and the lady that is in home office said we will match microcenter from now on too.

There's a Microcenter in Vegas, right? That's pretty close to Phoenix.

Was that your first time being at Frys? Thats what Frys is all about guy!!!

if they will match microcenter and you have a microcenter in town, why wouldn't you just buy it at microcenter?

MC's hassled me on a couple returns. I've never had an issue w/ Fry's.

That said, I'd still rather have a MC over Fry's.

every time I have returned something to fry's it was a massive hassle and once they accused me of theft, or rather attempting to return something I bought a long time ago, put in a new box and tried to rip them off.

I won't shop there after that went down.

You know, if someone tried to return something to me under the name of Stealthy 123, I'd probably hassle them too. :p

Seems as if they'll price match 110% of the difference compared to a competitor. Can't wait for Micro Center to have the i7 950 for $200. i7 950 for $190 is a steal. :D

Considering some of us (CA) have to pay tax at newegg and many other online stores, I'd definitely buy from Frys if they pricematch. Instant gratification, easier returns; I also want to support B&M.

Math fail. $200 - 10%($20)= $180

That being said, usually those policies are 110% of the difference. If Fry's was selling the CPU for $250 the difference is $50 so Fry's would give you $55 off. I guess if Fry's sells the 950 for 300% then your $190 price would be correct.
