I have downloaded a program that you can highlight words on a PDF file but I was wondering is their any free software that allows you to change the words on a PDF file?

There are websites out there that will convert a PDF to a word doc and email it to you. Then you can make your changes

Or have someone with adobe acrobat convert it

nice...if you can please reccommend some of those websites, I will appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Google Docs

You can upload the PDF, export to Word Doc, upload the modified Word Doc, export to PDF

As long as PDF is not a scanned doc you can do the following;
Open the PDF
Click on 'File'
Click on 'Save As Text'
Then open the Text Document with the same same as the PDF and the text will be there albiet without the formatting.
At this point you can copy/paste to Word and make any changes desired and save as a Word doc.
If you want it to be a PDF, I believe that Open Office lets you save as PDF.

openoffice has an extension that'll let you modify pdfs with different levels of success.
I've used it to add my info to rebate forms and things like that. It looks a lot nicer than my handwriting.

Nitro PDF Reader is great for that as well.
