If this is for personal use, keepass is awesome

If this is a network vault implementation, secret server or password manager pro are pretty good

I got a copy of roboform pro for free for being an "editor" so thats what I've been using ever since. Also bought roboform pro to go to have it on a usb drive, keeps everything in sync with goodsync

I've also used keepass and lastpass

I agree with everything above. Used Keepass for personal and PMP for enterprise password vault with delegated security

I use Keepass because it runs on a ton of platforms.

My Windows PC at home, Linux workstation at work, Android phone (also ran on my Blackberry before that)

Keepass is great for a single use PC or to carry around on a USB stick, but for use in multiple PCs across different locations LastPass is also worth checking out.

They've also just taken over development of the Xmarks cross-browser/cross-platform bookmark syncing utility, so I guess at some stage it will all be rolled up into a single multipurpose app or browser extension.

I am a big LastPass fan...feel it covers everything and the folks there are very friendly.

+1 for lastpass. stores passwords (encrypted) on their server, so if your system or drive dies, or you want to use on multiple computers, you can just log in to lastpass and access all your sites. I just stay logged in, but require re-login for financial sites and email.

Lastpass for me too. Nothing to install or lose, and you can backup all your server data if you want. It also has the best browser intergration, I never have to type a password on any website now.

Lastpass encrypts the passwords with AES 256 before uploading to the server. As far as them going out of business, I'd think you'd have some warning so you could migrate your passwords to another manager. It's a risk with this setup, but it's convenient to log on to lastpass with any device and not have to worry about losing your passwords through hardware failure and what not. Just save your email password in a local location (like encrypted on your hard drive) then if something happens to lastpass, you can log in to your email to reset your other passwords, that's what I do.

I use 1Password (the Pro version) and love it. Better than KeePass and all the others I've tried in the past. Even though 1Password isn't free (costs around $20 or something...nothing crazy) it is well worth it. Works on a ton of platforms, has an extension for most browsers, an iPhone app. Everything I could ever want from password management software.

There is a 30 day free trial for anyone wanting to check it out.
