Bummed that you missed the awesome U3011 and U2711 deals? (Me too.)
Just got a U3011 and want MORE desktop space? Look no further.

I can't post on the Deals forum because I just joined. But I've learned a lot from this site, so I thought I'd de-lurk and give something back. The shipping is deducted from the total when you check out.
EDIT: Use code CJ0408$DF for another 10% off.

This is a steal for the 2007FP. They generally go for $140-$190. One just went on eBay for $150 today.

You'll play the panel-type (IPS vs. PVA) lottery with the 2007FP. I already have a 2007FP from Dell Financial Services (through eBay) and it's a REV A05 with an IPS panel, made in Mexico. I just ordered two more today, and both are IPS. (The serial numbers, conveniently included in the receipt, end in "L.") You might be able to cancel your order if you don't get the model you want. I was actually hoping for at least one PVA: better vertical viewing angles for PVA mean better horizonal viewing angles in portrait mode. IPS kind of "shimmers" in portrait mode.

With this deal you can get a simple 3600x1920 desktop for just over $600. (Or 4800x2400 with six 2007FPs, but not as pretty.) Three 2407/8WFPs give you a 43.2" diagonal image with an aspect ratio of 1.87:1 and nearly twice the viewable area of a 30" monitor. Compared to a 30-incher, it's 1.5 times as wide with 95% of the DPI, which means a sharper image at the same angle of view. In fact, a 3x2407/8WFP setup is just over twice as wide as an IBM T221 with 46% of the DPI, making it about equivalent in visual detail at 2x distance.

I've been using a 2408WFP for two years and like it a lot. Just ordered another one (maybe the last one from the DFS site above?). For 200 bucks there's nothing else in its league. I think the 2407WFP is standard gamut, and the 2407WFP-HC is wide-gamut like the 2408.

On the whole IPS vs. PVA thing, the black levels on my PVA 2408 are noticeably better than on the IPS 2007FP panel that sits next to it. In fact, the screen's black is blacker than the bezel's black. (Is that from a Dr. Seuss book?) Backlight bleed-through is practically non-existent.

A few more points:

-The 2407/8 has the same number of pixels per inch as a 23.3" 1920x1080 monitor, which are common. And it has a thin bezel. It almost matches the 2007FP (it works if you set the 2407/8WFP a little back).

-The 2407/8 suffers from significant input lag. If you're a serious FPS gamer don't use this as your primary monitor. Otherwise, games look and play great on it.

-The PVA panel causes a slight loss of shadow detail when viewed straight on. You can compensate by bumping up the gamma a little.

What do you mean "ISP kind of "shimmers" in portrait mode? What is "shimmers"?

I do have a 2007FP and its a PVA, but REV A03. I am selling it to replace the 2408wfp that I order refurb also from DFS.

Moving side-to-side causes an effect of a shadow going across the screen. It's not that big a deal. But the 2408 only does that at extreme viewing angles.

My old 15" IBM T42p screen is an IPS and unusable in portrait mode (granted, laptops were not designed for that).

2:00 AM EST, looks like all the 2407s are gone. There's still one 2405WFP left for the same price. There are still 16 2007FPs left.

Stock on these refreshes constantly. If something you want isn't there today, it could be there tomorrow or next week. Check back often.

thanks for the link and code. I've been trying to get a 2007FP for 3 days now. They finally get some and now I can't get the free shipping! What am I doing wrong? It says right on their front page that it's free ground shipping, yet there's no option for it when I check out. Cheapest is $17.99

I have 2 at work and love them.

Thanks for the heads up netwebber. I ordered 2x 2007wfp's for my eyefinity setup.

Does anybody know if these come with DVI cables?

The free shipping will appear as a discount at checkout. At least it did for me.

They do. VGA, DVI, and power cables are included.

I ordered two 2007WFPs, both were IPS. One was rev A05 and the other A02.
I also ordered two 2408WFPs. I got one A00 and one A02.

It now looks like they have three U2410s for $300 ($270 if the code still works). Someone jump on those.

Having a 3600x1920 desktop is AWESOME. And on a laptop, to boot: Lenovo T400 with Radeon HD3400 DVI+VGA+DisplayLink DL-195.

The code does indeed still work. At this price, I'm very tempted... but I just don't have the spare $'s. Had to replace my water heater last week and that killed my holiday budget as is... now my car is acting up. Damn good deal tho.... as long as you are ok with the refurbish and consequential return policy/restocking fee if you get a lemon.

Subtotal: $ 202.30
Shipping: $ 17.99

How did I get so lucky? I got the 2408 shipped to me last week. No tax and I live in GA. You think it was some error? I like my 2408. I think its better than my 3008wfp!

Darn doesn't look like they have anymore 2407wfp in stock
update

they just stocked up on alot of monitors! Ordering a 2408WFP

The stock will constantly empty and refill due to many people whining about a stuck pixel or some miniscule back light issue and return/exchange it, hoping to get the perfect model. I've seen some people do this 3 or 4 times. So as long as they are doing that, we'll be happy with their rejected / refurbished monitors. :D ... just wish i had the funds. At this price, I'd get two or three 2408's!

Aren't these off-lease rather than customer returns? Either way, I just ordered a 2408 to go alongside my 2407wfp.

Going from a 27'' ASUS TN to the 2408. First IPS monitor... probably won't notice the size difference and the resolution is higher so thats nice. This is for school anyways. I wanna get another to run a dual display setup but I'll have to upgrade to a new video card. Currently using the 2 ports on my 9800gtx for my monitor and a plasma TV that I watch movies on =[.

Hopefully this deal or a similar priced one is around when I upgrade :D

Yah, I thought this are off lease stuff. Like some company think its cheaper to lease than to buy. This cannot be return. Do Dell still make 2408?

You will be lucky if Dell add a new tube life to all these ???

How do I find out?

The 2408 is PVA, not IPS.

To access the service menu, turn off the monitor, then hold down the menu and + keys while pressing the power button. Release all buttons. 2-3 seconds after the monitor turns on, press the - key.

Meh typo, well its my first display that isn't a TN and the price and resolution were the selling points.

Anyone have any experience cancelling an order with these guys? The 2007FP came available shortly after I ordered my 2408, and I decided I'd rather have the IPS smaller/cheaper monitor. I tried to call and cancel, but their phone system put me on hold for a while and then hung up on me twice. I sent an email, but who knows... so I may be getting two monitors in a few days!

I had a pain in the ASS getting them on the phone or in emails.

Try these,
[email protected] - order verification
[email protected] - order processing

Thanks for this instruction.

My hours on my 2408 I got last week:

Back Light On Time: 7295 H / 24 = 303 days ???
Monitor On Time: 21697 H / 24 = 904 days ???

OMG! Is this OK?

I don't see why not. We have several stations at my work that have dell desktop/monitors that have been around for 5 or more years, always on. 0 failures

They don't seem to die.

I see. Whats the difference between "back light on' vs "monitor on time' ?

The 2480WFP input lag isn't bad if you get the revised model. I have an A02 and it's very quick. I'm a big FPS player and I don't notice any more lag than my old Samsung TN panel.

I measured the lag with my camera and it's just slightly less than 2 frames of input lag.

DFS is a toss-up. I ordered two (to complement the A00 I got when it first came out). I received an A00 and an A02. I'm using the A02 as my center monitor (although technically, peripheral vision is more sensitive to motion). I like being able to adjust the sharpness between 25 and 50%.

seems the 2408's are gone
i want to pull the trigger on the s2309w but i dont really know much about that monitor

I managed to speak to an actual human today and asked to cancel my 2408 order. She said she would send it to the warehouse to be canceled, so if that actually happens there should be one back in stock before too long. :D But seriously, if you want a particular monitor I'd wait for them to replenish stock, unless it doesn't make much difference to you.

my 2007FP arrived today. Got a Rev A05, last 4 of SN was 1ELS, 6699hrs 7min. I think I need to order another one. It looks good next to my 24" ASUS POS

My U2410 (Rev A01) arrived yesterday. The Service menu reported just over 24 hours of display time, so I suspect Dell reset that timer prior to shipment. There are 0 dead pixels.

That means you got the PVA version. Serial number ending in L (for LG) = IPS, S (for Samsung)=PVA.
