will the current ddr3 work with sandybridge chips when they come out? ive been behind the times.

There have been leaked screenshots of it using 1.5V memory, so that at least should be good. Not sure yet about 1.65V.

if thats the case then not why not just bump the voltage to 1.65?

That depends on the strength of the IMC on those CPUs when they get released. The weaker ones might get all of the CPU's voltages, including the IMC, permanently linked to one another or permanently locked at stock. This means that if all of the voltages are linked together, you might not be able to increase the VDIMM voltage to 1.65V without having certain voltages going way out of spec (and the more out of spec all of the voltages are, the greater the risk for permanent and expensive damage to a Sandy Bridge system). If the voltages were locked to stock, the VDIMM cannot be changed at all whatsoever even if the motherboard allows for such adjustments.

so i might as well wait instead of buying some high end memory now for my sandy bridge build?

It's seems pretty clear that 1.5V will be ok, so if you can get a good deal on that you can jump now - otherwise I'd say yes, wait and see as we get closer.

seems most all corsairs memory is 1.65

and im a fanboy and have had good luck with corsair so they have me as a customer for life or unless they piss me off which ever comes first.

My plan is the 1.35v G.Skill ECO. 1.35v, DDR3-1600, and CL7 sounds great to me.
My alternate is G.Skill PI (1.5v DDR3-1600 CL6)
Worst case and memory speed matters I'll just bump the voltage, loosen the timings, and crank it up.
