Stupid Intel Commercials

I supposed this was the best place to post this, while not ideal.

I want to know what my fellow [H] think of those absolutely ridiculous Intel commercials.

Every part of them is disgraceful, but in particular:

- The one where an Intel employee raves non-consciously about the 'core i5' processors and dubs them 'the greatest thing they have ever made', while a super-high-tech A.I. robot capable of human emotion hears this and feels inferior and unappreciated before dropping its food tray and walking away.

- The one where two alleged long-time techies walk us through the advancements that have changed their lives - e-mail, wireless internet, and lastly..? That's right, Turbo Boost - "It's boosting performance.. Automatically!". Turbo boost is the next big achievement in computer engineering. That made me /facepalm for an hour.

So, do you guys agree or was this just me sharing my aggravation?

To be honest, there are several events that changed my life entirely. There is only one that ranks above Turbo Boost in the impact it's had, and it's too personal to speak about here.

I laughed every time I seen one of these and I do not own or use a single apple product. I do technically have shares of their stock via an exchange traded fund however.

They target the 90+% of people who do not have a clue how computers work. The people who call a computer a "hard drive".. I know many of these.

Well, DUH.

I'm taking a few minutes to take it seriously. I don't feel this way 24/7.

I'm just Super-Pissed (in general) about two things:

1) Idiots who think that a monitor is a computer.

2) Corporations raking in on these idiot's stupidity.

Makes my blood boil.

All I was looking for was "Yeah, those people are idiots, commercials are a genocide on our intelligence and self-respect as a people".

Then why do *I* feel insulted by it? It's beyond being jealous of the money.
I just have to watch commercials every stinking day while watching The Daily Show, because I like watching it live, and the commercials just make me sick.

I mean.. at the very least.. I NEED the commercials to come out and rightfully claim that they are only targeting the idiots in society, that they have nothing of worth to advertise and only care about the money they can get by swindling the commoners.

But I mean.. going along with your insinuation.. back when the wheel was discovered, stupidity pandering was only done with.. The Stupid! You never saw an intelligent person being thwarted by buffoonery.. that was only done to people outwardly stupid.

These days.. advertisements are EVERYWHERE and seem to appeal to EVERYONE.

I mean.. aren't I being targeted? Aren't commercials trying to advertise to ME?

It feels that way. And every time I feel that way I just want to SCREAM "You fucking idiots I'm not stupid enough to fall for your pretty pictures and voice actors!"

I know it's primitive and adolescent, but commercials these days are so well made.. it makes you wonder if the people making it are trying to reach only the stupid.. or if THEY THINK THEY ARE SMARTER THAN EVERYONE - Even me.

And that's what really bothers me. The thought that there is some retarded marketing firm out there with a turd sitting in his chair thinking he's so much better than me he can waive a stick in my face and I'll do whatever he wants of me.

Because you see even intelligent people listening to commercials these days. Perhaps not too discerning, but still intelligent. It's like.. advertisements have been socially accepted as superior to every one person.

And I don't think of myself as less than the people waving the sticks in front of everyone's faces who are apparently IMMUNE to the effect.
I am immune to.
SO WHY AM I BEING ADVERTISED *TO*?! It's 1000% wasted air time.

You are right. Advertising tries to sell the world an overly simplified, packaged view of extremely complex solutions. (Sometimes not even that.)

How many people do you know who *really* wonder how a complex piece of machinery works versus simply waking up, turning the key and going to work?
