Rovio has released the popular game, Angry Birds for the Android platform. Angry birds, green pigs and stolen eggs, Oh My!! The game is free to download and play.

Originally released on iPhone, Angry Birds has been downloaded more than 7 million times, according to Rovio. The free version of the game has been installed over 13 million times.

awesome! now if they just get flight control i could consider going android when i switch off my first-gen iphone in a few more years. btw, angry birds is well worth a dollar if anyone has an ipod/pad/phone and doesnt have it yet. :)

yeah, angry birds is a pretty awesome mobile game. I highly recommend anyone trying it out.

ekuest, if you like AB, give 'cut the rope' a try if you haven't already. It's another awesome casual/puzzle/physics game

^There's like 4 different versions of flight control (just not THE "Flight Control") in the Android Market.

I actually prefer Air Control (have paid version on my Droid) over Flight Control after having played FC on my friends iPhone.

This game plays so much better on my Vibrant than my buddies iphone 3G. I was wondering why they released the game on the 3G given the obvious symptoms of underpowered hardware.

Plays perfect on my Droid. I'm extremely glad they released it for free. It's gonna take me a while to get 3 stars on all the levels.. if I ever do, heh.

I cant find it on market, am I missing it or is it not out yet? (if it is, anychance anyone has the QR(?) code for it...?)

Yeah, for some reason it's not showing up on certain phones. I tried to get my neighbor to play it on his LG Ally, but it wouldn't show up in the market for him. I thought it was due to it not being supported (since it doesn't have a dedicated GPU), but after searching online, other Ally users are able to play it (after downloading it outside the market).

Here's the QR code ;)

Thanks, but...

There are no matches in Android Market for pname:com.ravio.angrybirds

I guess I'll just download it and put it on the SD card...

After some digging, I found something annoying. It seems the market reads your kernal build and if it's not based on the newest release of Android you wont see the app. Anyone running a rom based off stock will see it, anoyne running a rom built form the ground up (like Cyanogen mod) will not untill they update to the latest revision (on CM that will be shortly, cant say for other roms)

Also, awesome game. I thought I'd get it for shits and giggles because "no free mobile game is ever any good" and man was I ever wrong. I spent over 2 hours clearing the first 10 levels. do NOT start playing this on a short trip, you wont want to put it down!

No its not, its like any other bad flash game. Thats what all the games on these devices are, bad flash games that you have to pay for now...

Somone on CM forums had a friend download it earlier this week on their Droid, it's been up but certain phones cant see it (mostly rooted...)

Just another FREE app that makes android so much #1

I have plenty of free multiplayer touch-screen games for boring situations on my old G1 (android 1.6).... I can't imagine the free games for android 2.0+ on the new google G2.

AB is so addicting! I'd advise you not to d/l it. Especially because the price is so rediculous.

I dissagree. *SOME* of them are good. Angry Birds is good, Worms is good (cant seem to find it on android tho) and there are a few others... MOST _are_ bad flash games, but there are a few gems scattered among them.

Exactly. Android has that base thoroughly covered. In fact, we could probably kick the crappier versions out of the market until they un-suck their apps. While Google won't do that and even Apple won't (to any real extent), but I'd be a lot happier with 10,000 good apps than 100,000 or 300,000 that is 90% crap and filler.

Guess I'll have to keep using AppBrain.
