Anyone here got one? I've just started to use one and my god am i impressed! Brilliant for claw type gamers, i've been trying a few but the Xai wins hands down. Build is nice, weight is perfect (for me) and the software is simple.
I tip my hat to you Steelseries, good job. Goes nicely with my G110, but kinda wish i forked out for the 7G now.

what type of mouse are you coming from

Mx 518 (4 years) --> Death Adder (2 days) --> Roccat Ultra Light (1 week) --> Roccat Kone (1 month) --> Steelseries Xai (until it breaks)

Also went around a tried the Naga, Kone+ and the horrible X8

I felt that the Xai's build quality was very impressive...

However I really couldn't get a good grip with the shape, I'm also a claw grip gamer however it just didn't seem to workout for me. The other problem I had is the software kept crashing my computer, which was just unusual, but it really came down to the shape for me and I just couldn't keep it.

I've always liked the shape of the Xai, and those buttons on the right hand side could be useful. I'm loving my G700 but if I can find a Xai for ~$40 I'm going to pick one up.

I had one and returned it after three days. Mine had acceleration that couldn't be turned off and it drove me nuts.

All Xai's do. It's a known, unfixed issue of that laser sensor (in the G9X also.)

Love the Xai. Also, I haven't noticed any acceleration issues with mine. Are you guys using the latest firmware and have you disabled acceleration in the menus?

Which is disappointing considering the ADNS 9500 used in most top-tier mice.

Edit: this was around when it was released so I haven't had the chance to use the latest firmware. Acceleration was off in the drivers and pointer acceleration turned off. If they fixed it then that's awesome.

Depending on the settings or surface you use, you might not notice the negative acceleration. I'm not sure if Razer's firmware has fixed it, but I do know the Logitech mice with the 9500 handle things worse than the Xai does.

I think that the Xai or anything with the 9500 sensor has acceleration problems even after the firmware updates. However, most people won't notice it since I don't think it's all that much of an issue unless you have a VERY low sensitivity... The surface matters to some extent I'm sure, but it's still not perfect with the best surface I don't think, and the prediction is also there, however it's hardly noticeable either unless you are in paint trying to find it.

Well prediction was never noticeable until the first paint images started popping up a couple years ago. The heyday of CS and Q3 all took place with prediction. But I guess it's one of those things like being an audiophile. Once you find out about it, it's difficult not to notice (or think that you do.)

I'll check what firmware mine has because i have no idea what you guys are on about, i have acceleration off and it is off, i can't feel any at all.

I have the ikari laser and have tried the xai but ended up taking it back after a week due to the software being inferior to every mouse sw out there including the ikari. Cant set a doubleclick or close macros so bye bye it went.
I didnt see the tracking any different than the ikari which i think is the best out there.
I saw no acceleration issues positive/neg at any time but the xai cursor did like to disappear and then reappear at some random place on the screen without ever touching it so that left a bad taste also. This was all after the latest firmware updates.

I've never noticed acceleration on my g9x, nor a problem with the tracking at all. How do you guys test for/notice this acceleration? Also, whatever acceleration the 9500 has it is still MILES better than the phillips twin eye used in most other mice. The tracking problems are obvious within seconds of use on my Mamba/Imperator, where as I've been using this g9x for ~8 months and have noticed nothing wrong with it.

Something interesting here from the Windows Pointer Speed setting in the Xai software.

Leaving this at the default
6th notch (middle setting)
is highly recommended.
Setting it so anything else
will add a fixed amount of
acceleration to your pointer
movements, which will
reduce your precision and
accuracy with any input
device – including
SteelSeries Xai. We
introduced SteelSeries
ExactSens to free people
from this and all other
software interpolation,
enabling you to operate with
true hardware based
sensitivity settings for
maximum precision and
accuracy. We repeat, we
highly recommend you leave
this setting at the default

I have the Xai (came in few days ago). It's hands down the best mouse I've used. I don't know about all this talk with accelleration, if it's there I sure am not noticing it. It seems extremely accurate and linear to me. Maybe it's just so minute that it doesn't affect me. I didn't bother downloading the software I just used plug and play the default dpi feels great, probably 800 or around there. The shape itself is pure awesome. It's somewhere between the DeathAdder I was using before (but with a lower arch) and an Abyssus or MSIE 3.0. Abyssus is a little smaller but wider and lighter. The 3.0 is fatter twoards the buttons. The Xai shape and weight feels just right and actually grips well on the sides unlike the DeathAdder which gets slippery after playing games for a few hours. The mouse feels very sturdy, no button issues, the scroll is great, the cord is double braided, the mouse feet are high quality and glide well, no complains at all.

Open up Paint. Set up an area on your desk with two objects away from each other, preferably something heavy like staplers. Around two feet away is fine. Place the mouse next to one of the objects, hold the left click down and slide it slowly towards the other object until you reach it. Make note of the line, and repeat while moving the mouse faster. If there is a significant difference in the length of the two lines then it means there is acceleration.
