No One Plays Shooters on The PC Anymore

Words cannot convey my contempt for Microsoft for what they've done to gaming in their quest for the almighty dollar. They've set gaming back years with their antiquated hardware, and FPS games in particular have suffered. How can PC gamers play shooters when the biggest titles are exclusive to the consoles,or else are so watered down for the consoles limited capabilities that they're hardly worth playing? For this self serving flunky of theirs to make such an outrageous statement is an insult. Consoles are the worst possible platform for shooters.

Wow, a lot of people getting all butt hurt about someone telling this truth. Shooters on PC aren't dead, but the community is significantly smaller than the console shooter community. Get over it. And this is from someone who hates FPS games on console.

I dont really believe the reason people are raging about that. Everyone knows that PC gaming is shrinking(I prefer the term "more elite") due in no small part to piracy and the ease of making console games nowadays.
But to say that FPS gaming on a console is better than on pc? That's ridiculous. Literally for the types of movement needed the only advantage of the 2 joystick approach, is that you have finer control over the movement side, but on the PC you have infinity finer control of the pointing side which is much more important to the type of game we speak of(imho)

And again to say the Kenect is superior to the tried and true mouse and keyboard?

QFT. They saw how popular gaming was on Windows back in the late 90s and they wanted more cash from that. They knew that on Windows, which is an open platform, they couldn't charge game licensing fees, online licensing fees for peer-to-peer gaming (when every single other competitor offers that same service for free, or in the case of the PC, an even better service using dedicated servers for free). I have no respect for Microsoft.

I got to say that in a way it is not the statement of console vs pc which upsets me it is the "journalist" which doesn't ask questions upon the answer he gets.

It is like a Micheal Pachter quote whatever the story is Sony is going to win the console wars and yet no one have made seriously fun of his answer or called him names not that you would have to after reading his "opinion" and when he is right he retracts his astute remarks http://www.qj.net/qjnet/psp/pachter-on-the-psp-go-sony-is-ripping-consumers-off.html

These days interviews aren't about depth but about seriously cheering for the home team in a way which seriously is not anything more then boasting or grandstanding to allow your own market segment to look like it's god gift to mankind. Journalists lack backbone and sadly in gaming is ruled by the almighty dollar of advertising.

i have a 360 and ps3 but i still only buy FPS on PC. and that wont change.

I hate console FPS.

After I figure out which way I'm going with my new rig, I'm getting Bad Company 2 and re-installing Counter-strike.

You do realize that Halo was stolen from the PC when Microsoft Hijacked Bungie with $$$ :/

well that was "stolen" from the Mac soo....

I don't see any aiming in that video. Am I blind? All I see is spraying.

Exactly....but it's the jerky movements that really stand out, and that make a case against a controller and for a mouse.....I realize you were being funny, and agreeing.

Check out this YouTube Video of Halo Reach: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aKO5ejbbP8&feature=player_embedded

Note the jerky movements of the controller stick all throughout the game. The poor aim. The ridiculous shooting going on....and actually, not going on. This game on a pc w/ mouse and keyboard would be so much better.

QFT!

If only the PC ports didn't end at Halo 2. I enjoyed Halo, on my PC. I can't stand consoles, just the lack of features and upgrades it has, is just not apealing to me.

Dear Kudo Tsunoda,

Allow PC users and your Kinect users join the same FPS servers and you will see who is dead and who is not.

With Love,

Mouse and Keyboard

LOL @ all of u. I played the crap out of halo 1 on Xbox and PC. Had a frigging blast on both. Bc2 is great on PC, but I played mw2 on 360. Sure consoles look shittier and control is limited, but its still good times on the couch all relaxed and horizontal. And for PC's, we got LAN parties. I enjoy fps on both systems equally.

I love my PS3 for many things, but I absolutely refuse to play FPS's on it or any other console. FPS's were made to be played with a mouse and keyboard. And yes, the screaming jackasses do get annoying, but they can be muted if you really wanted to put up with the torture of playing on a console.

LOL!!!!!

Further evidence of just how clueless publishers are.

I wouldnt call them clueless. They have the absolute proof they are correct. They sell FPS games on consoles probably at a 10:1 ratio vs PC. So they are in FACT correct.

Doesnt mean id rather play on a console, but im not dumb enough to ignore the reality of what they are saying.

The only games I buy on the 360 are the ones that are console only and do not require aiming a gun. I make a point to buy games on the PC over the console to support the platform of my choice :)

This. I play pc games but I rarely play fps pc games, all my console games are fps except star wars. I play with my friends on the xbox.

It's called "marketing" people...his tactic is brilliant. His facts are off but no one cares about facts where marketing drivel is concerned.

I still play them on PC and always will so hes wrong because even 1 person is more then "no one"

Or something

Console FPS.....LOL. I can't even say it with a straight face it's such a ridiculous concept.

....wtf?

I don't play FPS on anything BUT the PC....

Also, as a test, if they leave the precision high I'll take on any "elite" console wanker in an FPS. They don't let PC's and consoles play together because of the fact that "good" PC mouse/keyboard users destroy console players in every test.

Take CoD:MW, or even MW2, stick a set of console users in it on one team and watch them get obliterated by the PC users on the other.

Only thing console has going for it, is ease and cost of access. Throw in a mouse on Consoles and you have 10x more control immediately.

Playing a first-person shooter on a console is like playing one on the PC with a trackball.
I used to be pretty damn good at Quake 2 online with a trackball, railgun and a grappling hook on the lithium servers ;) I used to love listening to everyone slam their mouses around at LAN parties trying to reset....that's the advantage of trackballs and why they were so much better when people were flying around on grappling hooks. I've since ditched the trackball and have no idea how I did it back then.

I don't get the appeal of Halo....there wasn't a hell of a lot going on in that game.

The first one was good, but it was originally designed for the PC. Imagine what the others could have been if MS hadn't crippled them for their consoles, with progressively better graphics, open world,non-linear gameplay, and the KB/M controls FPS games need. But as they are now, they're all hype and no substance.

I don't know why people diss consoles. The 360 and PS3 are awesome platforms...

...for games that don't have a PC release.

And Halo is an excellent FPS for consoles. Even if it was ported to PC, I doubt the controls would ever be satisfactory.

But MW2, CSS and any other HL, BFBC2, Mafia 2, and Borderlands are all much better on PC.

The BioShock's and Resident Evil are a tough call. PQ is MUCH better on PC, but they the gameplay is equally fantastic on both PC and Console

Fallout 3 is easier on PC, but I'm going to have to give it to consoles. This games environments deserve your HDTV's superior PQ / contrast over the computer monitor.

Some games are better on console than PC... but only the smallest percentage of them. PC is still where its at. Bring on the Eyefinity and 3D!

the only shooters that suck on a pc are the ones where you have to fight the camera because you are in 3rd person and it is always spinning due to some programmatic bullshit they have made to keep it simple for consoles.

Apparently they are. The first one was fun but wasn't so great that I ever played it again none the less subsequent releases.

He claimed nobody plays FPS's on PC's anymore, which is factually incorrect, even as an exaggeration. The PC FPS crowd has grown steadily over the years, and despite the fact it trails console FPS numbers dramatically, there is still a very large number of people playing these games on PC.

Get a better monitor. ;)

until you have played games on a well setup CRT monitor you just don't know anything about contrast... lol
