Das Mechanical Keyboard Promotion - 24% Off + Free Shipping

These are like the old IBM "click" keyboards? The old AT style ones were freaking indestructable!

Finally gonna pull the trigger on one of these.

Now I just need to decide - am I leet enough to use the blank keys? I never look at the keyboard - ever - but what if one day I do!?

heh, I have one of those old AT (cut to PS2) new and in the box sitting here if I ever feel like pulling it out. I can see the Das boards having the advantage of being USB, but I really can't see myself buying one for $100+ that does not have an LCD.

$98 shipped for me with the code... :)

I just know I'm gonna spill a beer on it within a week though. :(

Mechanical keyboards are not as impressive as everyone makes them out to be. I actually find mine quite annoying because of how loud the keys are. As far as peripherals, I'm all for a good mouse, expensive pad, audiophile headphones, but the keyboard just never did anything special for me.

Ya I will actually. I miss those old, loud, keyboards not at all. I love my new ergonomic keyboard. Not only is it not loud, but it keeps my hands in the correct position, for less strain.

To me, the mechanical keyboard things seems kinda like a "geek toughguy" thing. You use it as a badge of price, not because it is actually the best keyboard.

However, to each his own.

Mechanical != loud. Some are loud and some are quieter than a standard membrane board. The term mechanical covers a wide variety of different switch types and cannot be generalized so simply.

They're a little pricey, but not THAT pricey.

A badge of pride - maybe. But only if it's one of the keyboards that has no letters printed on the keys.

I have a filco, and would spring on this. I use brown switches.

To all of those complaining about the nature of the thread... They're in the same class as SSDs. It may not be necessary at all, but it's a wonderful luxury item. I have trouble using any other keyboard... the keys feel much more mushy.

wow thats an excellent deal, I'd be all over the Ulitmate S if I didn't have my sexy Deck Legend Frost tactile.

These better than or same quality as filco? Was gonna get a tenkeyless majestouch, but this das would be cheaper and I don't mind the num pad. As long as it's as good as the filco brown, I think I may jump on this deal

Pretty much everyone in the Mechanical Keyboard Guide thread would disagree with you, but I respect your opinion.

And as sayu already pointed out, they aren't all loud.

@Kyle: Hell yeah. Please report back and let us know how you like it.

I think the Professional looks really nice, but I ended up going with the Ultimate (blank) and yeah, it's pretty leet. Even my GF made positive comments about it! :)

Freegin A I buy a g15 yesterday, then cancel the order cause I found a good deal on a FILCO keyboard and thennnnnnnn this pops up! oh well I'll stick with the FILCO keyboard.

ordered silent ultimate version. Came out to be $135 - 32.40 =$102.60

Thanks, op. Always wanted one of these.

what kind of pros and cons are there between blue and brown switches..

Anyone have a say on how much softer the noise is for the soft version?

I wont use the keyboard unless it is a split one. People with large hands suck at those small sized keyboards. Microsoft Split keyboard all the way!

I'm interested in knowing what the differences in mechanical keyboards are though.

i emailed the company and they said they stopped offering the fn media keys... :(

volume up down play pause would of sold me on the keyboard haha, but i'm so lazy I know i can program it myself but I don't want to

i just really don't have any use for TWO windows keys? really haha

If it had media keys for volume adjustment I would bite. Mechanical keyboards need them!

Blues offer a much more pronounced sensation of actuation (a "click"), while Browns are much quieter and instead offer more of a "bump." Both can be felt; the Blues much more so and many prefer the typing experience that they offer but I wouldn't want to use them in a library. The Browns are a great all-around switch.
