So after frying my x58 board and getting a replacement.. i got a 930 and figured I'd just rebuild the 920 into a different box and maybe give it to my brother or something...

I got some shin-etsu to replace the paste on my h50.. the x23-7783D.. I tried applying it in a thin layer as per the [H] recommendation since its a thicker paste.. but .. I ended up going with a 75% of the size of a pea in the center because it was too thick to spread..

I'm curious if my temps are showing that I don't have the cooler seated the best or paste spread the best? They are different across all cores.. (but lower than my 920..) So I'm unsure.. I screwed down the bracket in an X pattern.. doing about 3-4 screw revolutions before moving to the next until it was tight down..

Temps below...

It's normal for them to be a few degrees apart. Mine are about 5 degrees from coolest to hottest.

Yeah I just thought 8c difference is a pretty big gap.. the gap on my 920 was 5C.. But this is running cooler.. I hate how inconsistent stuff is...

If Turbo is enabled, one core is running faster than the others and will always be hotter than the others. You also have to make sure that all of the cores are idle and none are working a background process like virus scannng or whatever. Background processes will make the working cores hotter.

It doesn't look like this is the case, but having more than one monitoring application open can muck with the sensors too.
