Fan + Shopping Cart = FANKART!

only a matter of time till they mount a camera and a couple Hellfire missles.....

Moeller should hire these kids to help him the fuck out and get that flying car I was promised to market.

its mollar, and I just remembered how much I hate that guy. that guy is the king of bullshit and should win the wired.com vapourware award. Im gonna nominated him next time its up.

That car was ready 10 years ago you bastard.

I'm not a fan of the shit.
Pun intended.
3. Hope this cart tips in a cow field so shit hit the fan.
4. Yes, pun intended again!

Humm...

I think it would work much better if the fan were mounted underneath and angled downwards slightly.

This is what I was thinking too. It would lower the center of gravity allowing for faster turns. Plus, if you had a powerful enough fan, you could put someone in the cart!

wow, if they spent as much time trying to get girls as they did screwing around with the shopping cart and fans, they might actually not be virgins.

you're so short sided, this IS their plan to get girls.

I dont have audio at work, what were they using for side to side control? I didn't see a rudder or something attached to the wheels.

OH!!!

I thought it was going to be me pushing a shopping cart full of Ninja Turtle toys, comics, and Peter Laird.

:(

Servo attached to the front wheels.

I saw this and had two thoughts:
1) How on earth does this guy have time for projects like these? I certainly didn't have time for projects like this when I was an EE student.
2) How does this guy fund these projects? He had an earlier project with a several-horsepower DC motor attached, and it costs a few hundred bucks. And LiIon batteries that can supply 50+ amps at 42 volts are NOT cheap.

That was about 2 minutes too long.

It'd be amusing with after a 6 pack of newcastle's....maybe...

And the point was???
And why do shaggy bearded geeks always like to sit cross-legged on the floor?

My first thought when I saw this was "has anyone tought of mounting something like that on a bicycle"?
Don't know what sort of thrust it would produce but it could be easily attached to a rear rack on any bike.

I want one. I'd take it into Walmart and pity those scrubs who have to push their shopping carts.

Nice. Good to see these guys working their brains, instead of the bottle like myself in college.

ah, you gotta love nerds, other kids are using their summer to go to the pool, have summer romances and figure out how to be cool next year, but these guys? they appear to be in school anyway making a remote controlled fan powered shopping cart....good for you fellas :D

And a new MotorSport was born :)

Get rid of the weenie electrics though. Mount a nice 25cc WeedWhacker motor on there either some nice 1/4 scale servo's for steering or an actual ducted system for steering.

At that point brakes would probably be a good idea too :)

As long as you didn't go overboard, I could see a setup like this built into a backpack of some sort you just put on. Little thumb controller for throttle and there ya go!
