Hi Folks,

Just a quick question that I need some halp with. (System specs in sig) I left for vacation 2 weeks ago. Have been playing the [H]ell out of BF:BC2. I come back, there were 2 windows update's for my system, plus the big patch for the above mentioned game. My system has been running the latest sound blaster drivers for the last 5 months.

I log into the game and low and behold, it kills my audio!!!! Even when I quit the game, there is no audio coming out of my headphones in Windows 7. I have to reboot every time. Needless to say, I will not play the game without sound.

I tired to roll back the creative driver but no luck. I upgraded to the 10.6 ATI drivers a few weeks ago as well as the application profile for BF:BC2. I wonder if this has anything to do with it? I also have the onboard audio and HDMI audio disabled.

Any suggestions as to what it could be? None of my other games seem to be affected.

Thx!!!

I hit on basically the same problem. I hadn't played the game in a couple of weeks, when I fired it up, had to update the game files. After that, playing the Snow Blind level, audio cut right out. I would exit to the game menus and the sound came back, go back to game, no audio. Thought it was my G35's at first, but after a reboot, entered the game using sound card and speakers and the audio cut out within a couple of minutes. I never really found a fix for it, I just went back in, finished that level and it hasn't happened since. I'm in the Chile levels now in single player and no audio issues at the moment. I don't know if the audio issues were caused by the game update, or some conflict in my system that I wasn't aware of. I ran fine for some time before that level too...running 10.4 Catalyst.

I had the same problem and in my case the game simply didn't like Creative Alchemy (Windows 7 64 bit.) I'm using a GTX 480 and obviously a Creative X-fi soundcard. I use headphones all the time.

I took the game out of Alchemy and that was the end of the problem. Don't know if that helps anyone here or not. Past that, all my drivers on everything were and are up to date.

Id start with the drivers and game. Download the latest drivers off the web for your sound card. Uninstall your current ones, reboot and install the new ones. If that doesn't work reinstall the game. Also update directx with the newest version, that can fix audio problems to.
