Can I replace my NEC 20WGX2 yet?

About a year ago I was considering replacing my 20WGX2, but decided to hold off. I've come full circle again and am curious if now is finally the time to part ways. I'd really like a 23"-24" monitor. Don't get me wrong, the 20WGX2 is still wicked good. I just figured enough technology has changed to warrant a replacement.

What monitors are available that would satisfy this replacement?

Well if you're telling me you want a larger glossy IPS, then I'm sorry to say not much has changed... you can either remove the antiglare coating from a panel yourself like this or head over to Apple...
 
or take a chance on importing a Mitsubishi RDT232WX-S from Japan
 
What a coincidence.

I'm currently running 2x 20WGX2 (love the panels) but I'm looking at replacing 1 of them with a 24".

The last one is a 22".

The only issue I have is I'm not overly confident games will play at a reasonable clip with my 4870X2 @ 1900x1200.

I was debating the same thing myself, and NEC's refurb sale made up my mind. Ordered two more 20WGX2's and going eyefinity. Problem solved.
 
Go for the fujitsu 22"s as/they offer a nearly unbeatable contrast ratio and are very responsive making them perfect for gaming

Any tips on a US retailer that might carry them?
 
I am in the same boat as well. I am holding out for 24" glossy, IPS, with or without LED backlighting, 19x12, and 120hz input. Unfortunately, i will probably be holding out for awhile, haha. If I was forced to go with a display today, I would vote ZR24W. It seems to be a great performer for its price point.
 
I've had my 20WMGX2 for 4 years now. This bad boy stays put until someone makes a 24"+ glossy ips that I don't have to import and/or make compromises with.
 
I am in the same boat... anytime I am forced to look at a monitor other than my 20wmgx2, i die a little inside.

I'm not upgrading until a die hard fan of the 20wmgx2 says it is O-K to upgrade :eek:
 
At this time, the only choices would be using the 24" Apple Cinema Display or 27" iMac with the 5870 Eyefinity6 video card.
 
Holy cow, thanks for the replies LOL. Looks like not much has changed since last I entertained this thought. Guess I'll have to sit on it a bit longer then. Although 2 more for eyefinity sounds like a wicked good idea. I wanted to avoid that, but I may not be able too.

@Syco - Where'd you get the referbs?
 
I got it direct from NEC during a refurb sale they have every once in a while. Found it via the Hot Deals forum. Unfortunately the 20wgx2's are sold out now, at least the black ones are. They had a sale back in December that I missed out on, so I imagine they will have another sale in the next couple months.
 
I just replaced a dead one last week. Came out to about $150 with shipping and tax IIRC.

They have a summer sale on now.
