Looking for article on cheap Server with huge number of drives.
I saw it last year on hardocp. It had a huge number of drives. The company was looking to produce the server this year. Hoping someone can direct me to the article.

They were using a single device sata hotswap backplane they would be perfect for a project I am working on.

What is a huge server with a huge number of drives? Try Googling blackblaze as that is likely what you are looking for (it used Silicon Image port multipliers). Not exactly the fastest solution out there, but it is cheap.

Thanks Backblaze was what I was looking for article where they offered their build to public. For the life of me none of my googling was bringing it up.

But I found the article and the backplane it is a CFI-B53PM. Thanks for your help

Actually I am building another portable backup NAS in a pelican case. I bring them to customers sites. Do a backup over a weekend then store drives offsite in a special water proof fire safe.

Want to make easier to swap swap out drives.
