G9 users -- I will be receiving this mouse soon and would like your opinion on what mousepad works well with it.

I currently have the Razer Goliathus (1st version they introduced, pre control version days) that I've been pairing with the DeathAdder and do not like the feel of the material.

I tried the CM Storm Sentinel with a Zero gamers pad (http://www.handstands.com/HandStands-Zero-Gamers-Mat/dp/B002JN8YGS) but it was too small for my taste and I'd always have the mouse hanging off the edge.

Keep hearing real good things about the Ratpadz XT, my only fear is that it's too small and too raised -- is it worth a try?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks much

I'm using the Ratpadz, and I'm more than satisfied. If it doesn't glide fast enough for you when you first buy it, just use a pledge wipe and it'll cut the resistance noticeably. Plus, if you don't like it, they'll buy it back from you.

Just get a Ratpad XT and never look back...I've had mine for 3 years and its still as smooth and great feeling as day 1.

I have a G9, the mouse is a beast and I love it. But extended web browsing sessions are a little uncomfortable after a while... you're holding the mouse like you're ready to kill someone while checking your emails or browsing YouTube... so you get the idea.

I went from the G9 to a Mamba and don't regret it, but grip of the G9 is stricly for gaming, even better than the Mamba, but the Mamba got that all-around perfect grip for extended "whatever" sessions.

But the mouse pad I would recommend is the Destructor.

Best for both worlds. Even used it with the Sidewinder.

I'm using my wooden computer desk for my mouse, I don't see the point in buying a mousepad especially with the amazing tracking technology we have now.

They're more of a gimmick now. If anything, I'd buy a pad with a wrist rest, or just buy the wrist rest by itself.

I'm using the Ratpadz XT. I love it with one exception. I fly gunships in BF2142, and I run out of vertical room. I can't wait till the come out with the larger mouse pad. I would not trade it for anything. I am using the G9 with it. Had to cut a hole in my desk so my cord could flow properly.

Another fUnc Archtype user here.

I just retired my G9 for a G500 the other day, though.

I like soft pads, like the old standby cloth mousepad.

How do these "fancy" mousepads compare in comfort? I like the cloth feel and not plastic feel.

in alot of cases that might work, but it depends on the color and grain of the surface. most wooden orfake wood surfaces have grain patterns in them that can screw up the trackers. mice love smooth even surfaces ( youll notice good mousepads have the same "patterning" over the whole pad) so it can better calculate its tracking and be much more consistent.honestly its more for gamers and others who need precision.

Func F10s. i just wish all my retailers still carried Func......

Well I tried the Ratpadz and did not like it. Too small and and I don't think I'm a fan of very hard surfaces in general as I'm on the lower sensitivity side for gaming and the hard surfaces are too slick for my mouse movement which tends to be aggressive. At the same time, I don't really like pure cloth (Razer Goliathus).

Is there any in between? Steel Series 5L looks like it might work. How slick is the surface?
