“On the PC, it's a PC version, which is getting that same treatment, and then also a little bit more as PC users are generally used to a different type of experience than console users are, and we recognise that and we want to make sure that we give that to the PC market and give the console market more,” said Van Dyke.

Yes, this is a direct response to the IW shit. May be true, but it's also sucking up somewhat :)

So they are giving console market more of?

that's exactly what I was wondering. I realize this is an interview and people sometimes change direction in the middle of a sentence while they are speaking, but I didn't understand what the hell he was saying. I get the gist of what's being conveyed, but what the hell does "give the console market more" mean? More worser graphical? More better online matchmaking through the in-game console multiplayer matchmaking? More limited in the online experiences with lacking of the user-created mods and furthermore featuring dedicated server not supported?

Beats me.

More monetary cost at retail.

People are just setting themselves up for more disappointment by putting all their hopes on DICE and BC2 - it's a multi-platform sequel to a console-exclusive game. Look at the "the PC version will be best!" crap Gearbox came out with when hyping Borderlands and that is extremely consolised.

I'm inclined to agree. I'll curb my enthusiasm until there is much more concrete information out and the game is actually close to release.

PC gamers have been pissed with DICE before because of some the the stuff they pulled(remember Battlefield 1943?).

In December 2009, DICE will invite players to participate in a PC open beta. Then, early next year, all players worldwide will get to experience this premier shooter when DICE releases a Battlefield: Bad Company 2 multiplayer DEMO on the Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system, PlayStation 3 and PC.

This alone has me remaining hopeful. If they are willing to put forth an open beta/demo before the game is released then they must be confident in their product and it's appeal to the PC market. DICE has its roots firmly planted in PC gaming so here's to hoping they haven't forgotten the essentials after their console foray.

I know what you mean. The IW drama was sad, and the news from DICE picked me up a bit. I still don't like the way BF2 controls, and 1942 wasn't much better. I loved the scope and the idea of the game, just didn't like how my character moved around and how the weapons shot. It probably has to do with coming from Counterstrike prior to playing the BF series.

I hope they nail it, I really do.

It is totally sucking up but look around, its working. :)

I'm hopeful, still waiting on BF1943 on the PC (I love it on the 360 but gimme my mouse+keyboard!), I didn't care for BF2142, but I really want this to be good. Fortunately the videos are badass, so we'll see.

Holy dicks! you don't say!

At least ONE dev has their head screwed on straight.

might have missed it, but will BF:BC2 allow PC and console games to play on the same server? even just co-op would be cool if they're worried about distinct advantages.

if this is true, then it will be a huge selling point of the game

It´s still true though even though it could been even better

They're simply exploiting IWs mistakes for their own benefit with some some tactical PR/Marketing, I don't really blame them, I kind of expect it depsite how sleazy it is. HOWEVER the fact that they're doing so does at least proves they understand PC gamers are a different audience and they desperately seek PC centric games.

Now...with BC2 Im not so sure, other people have already said this is a console based IP to start with and we're getting essentially a console port, so I dont have a huge amount of faith for BC2 although I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt I'm also not terribly interested in it.

What I AM interested in is the potential BF3 which I could have sworn I read was going to be PC only? Being dragged along by EA would have normally worried me but EA have actually proved recently they're capable of learning, the latest NFS Shift is a well built PC game with all the typical PC options we come to expect from a PC game, in fact is scores 100% at www.pcgamingstandards.com

On its own not a massive feat, but lets face it all the previous incarnations of the NFS series, at least all of the modern ones, have been absolutely shit and consolised beyond belief with lacking resolution options, lacking an array of graphics options and wheel options, broken widescreen and just about everything else under the sun.

Yea, let's not be quick with DICE worship yet, not so long ago people were flaming them for all kinds of things. Now they are suddenly the best thing since sliced bread? they sure used the PR advantage but let's just wait and see.

I guess they don't realise alot of people own consoles as well.

But it works the first time, it's a really smart thing to say in relation to the hate of console ports... sadly as we've seen it doesn't really mean much.

I miss the days of "john romero will make you his b@#!$" or something similar ;)

Personally I never had an issues with DICE and I gamed on BF 1942. The infantry aspect of BF1942, Vietnam and even BF2 to a LESSER extent paled in comparison to COD.
However after seeing the battlefield blog with the in game playing footage.... holy shit guys, that might be an instant classic right there. yes infantry mechanics and motions and gameplay all look to be a drastic improvement from old. I am looking forward to the open PC beta for BC2 fo sho!

cod4 basically turned me away from bf2 forever. I'd like to see another bf2 game turn me away from cod5 and cod6.

I never really got hooked by all the gameplay of bad company, but this second one looks like a fun game. With MW2's dissapointments i might give it a try.

Anyone know when 1943 is coming? Can't wait to get back to the Battlefield.

Dude, I don't know, but I want it on the PC so bad. I really enjoyed it on the 360, I just want to play it with a mouse and keyboard now. :)
