The Watchman - Directors Cut - Blu-Ray - $20

To bad it doesn't have Tales of the Black Freighter back in it, for that version we have to wait till Christmas. And the digital copy is the theatrical version, not Director's Cut. Bought it at CostCo. on release for $26.

anyone know if this is online only? i stopped by last night and the shelf tag said $29.95 at wally world but i didn' scan it.

What's the nick name for the people who stream their movies, both HD and SD, off the Internet and don't pay a dime? I shall take that name.

It seems to be online only. It's not listed in their retail ad and on other forums they're saying online only.

It sounds like you can also order from Deep Discount DVD with their current 25% off sale and get it for around $19.xx shipped. (Google for the coupon code) ...EDIT: OOS right now, but I think you can still order at this price.

Amazon has it for $20.49 plus shipping (or free shipping over $25).

Fry's has it for $20.29 this weekend.

I thought Yeorwned was referring to iTunes or some other streaming service.

Months ago, I knew nothing of the story, but decided to just wait for the director's cut, figuring that was the best way to see something that was getting rave reviews, and lots of hype...

Just watched it the other day...

That was three hours of my life I wish I had back!

(I still don't get the hype about the violence, sex or nudity levels... Maybe I fell asleep during a critical scene...)

I was referring to all of the legit options there are today where it is video on demand, not pirate on demand. Example services such as Hulu or Netflix which allow high quality streaming.

If you were watching it for the voilence, sex or nudity then yeah, you totally missed the point.

if you enjoyed the comic, you'll enjoy the movie..that's really all there is to it.

Seeing the blue schlong poped up on screen every 10 minutes was a bit annoying..

What's wrong with a glowing blue schlong? If mine was glowing and blue, I'd flaunt it too. If you noticed it that much, you must have subconsciously liked looking at it ;)

One of the biggest wastes of my time ever. Even golf and nascar is more enjoyable than that horribly hyped up crap.

LOL. My friend and I were joking about this as well saying that the Directors had to update the size in order to be acceptable with modern audiences. They also placed a lot of emphasis on the banging scenes so this movie could be classified as softcore pr0n. :D

Spend $20 or so and buy the comic. The movie is a disgrace of an interpretation.

how was the movie a bad interpretation? I felt the movie an awesome interpretation considering how much they had to pack in such a short time period.

goos movie imo.

And the Director's Cut (of "Watchmen," just for the record, not "The Watchman" or even "The Watchmen," just "Watchmen") is even better as it adds in just enough extra footage and background to make the characters just that much more rounded.

People that just don't get it won't get it, of course. I started to read the graphic novel last year when I heard about the movie being put together, but never finished it. It's an awesome story that basically shows even superheroes are human too... even Dr. Manhattan and his blue schlong... hehehe

Bought it from Amazon along with 2001: a space odyssey (10.99 for one of the best blu-rays?, steal).

Got them in the mail today and about to watch it now :D.

Loads were left out. Too much emphasis on schlong and banging.

A good interpretation wouldn't make the Hollywood $$$ so they had to appeal to a broader range of audience to survive.

it was too damn long considering the plot was "wtf is going on" for 3 fucking hours and then it is explained at the end..

Fortunately the excellent special effects kept me from killing myself due to boredom

Most people don't have anywhere near a fast enough internet connection to stream a BD movie. Just saw this movie, the BD Directors Cut, and it wasn't half bad but I'm glad I rented it. $6 was all this movie was worth to me.

BTW, just got the upgraded to Total Media Theater 3 Platinum and its awesome!

People DLed the comic from torrents like crazy weeks before the movie came out. I probably wouldn't have gone to see the movie if I didn't read the comic because the whole damn comic was confusing up until the end where things fell to their rightful place.

Summary of plot? Dr.Manhattan (schlong man) has a PMS, haphazardly explains life and existence with sperms and eggs, and in the end the masked heroes who remain live to fight another day.

So now it's apparent that you have to read the fucking book/comic before we "get" the damn movie. To hell with that.

Guess I'll have to rewatch it for the awesome 3D hentai secks everyone's raving about (zoned out every now and then cuz' it was so damn boring, long and incoherent)

You don't have to read the graphic novel before seeing the movie, but you do have to use your brain when watching it. This isn't some brain-dead Micheal Bay movie.

I'll wait until the super-hyper-turbo-special ed comes out later this year. Good movie but the ending compared to the book was a little weak. I thought the plot was easy to understand, it ain't transformers 2, but if you have read the odyssey or 2001 you should have no trouble 'getting' it.

There is a big divide on the ending. Honestly I like the explosions over the giant alien squid thing. It simply wouldn't have worked in a live-action movie.

I understood it perfectly without reading the book or comic.

You can understand if your awake. The comic's ending is different and with anything else that was watered down to fit on the screen the movie lacked a lot of the perks that made the comic a masterpiece.

Aside from that, the movie was pretty bad. The acting was pretty sub-par for all of the main characters; the only person that acted well was the guy that got killed at the beginning. Luckily, there are a few flashback scenes that have him in it--as they are the only good part of the movie. I don't remember the names of any CHARACTER of the movie, which is pretty ridiculous for a movie that is like 2 hours long--and for a movie based on a comic.

The story is probably what brings this movie down the most and results in everything else going down the crapper. The story is just weak, and unbelievably so. It wasn't confusing, it was just bad. Some characters actions didn't match their personalities, all of the heroes were pretty lame, and none were really developed well. Sweet, a mask that changes faces! A really smart guy! A guy with a massive blue schlong that supposedly can do anything, but rarely does, does for a pretty lame reason, or does when he really didn't need to! It's not even that they don't have superpowers, it's just that they don't make any of them seem to do anything significant.

This was the most disappointing movie I've ever seen. It was pretty well advertised as a movie with some action, yet has very very very little action and what you get is NOT IN THE LEAST BIT SPECTACULAR. The best action scene in the movie was a 45 second flashback, and the second best was at the start of the movie--and that one was not very good. Beyond that, there were more scenes with a giant blue dick in them than scenes that had action.

I also saw it at some new theater in town and the seats gave me a monster backache for 2 days--and I'm only 24. They also had some kind of disgusting ketchup for the fries I got, that or it was expired. It had the consistency of I Can't Believe It's Not Butter. I told the guys that worked there before the movie started so nobody would get sick or anything, but I came back out of this 2 hour pile of shit and the same ketchup was still out there. I did my civic duty and mailed the sample out to the FDA anonymously, but I'm never going back to find out.

I'd like them to make a second one, just so it can flop and they can lose money for ripping off everyone that went there thinking they'd be getting more than not even less than mediocre.

As far as the squid thing, I think the director could have made up something comparable cgi or not. When you think about it, it really isn't the squid that is important: it's the metaphor of it that matters. You could sub in any 3rd party threat and make the movie 10x better. As it is the movie ending changes the message of the entire work for me. That is why it is weak.

It is more powerful to imply that the petty squabbles we insist on pursuing don't mean much in the face of an overwhelming foe that forces us to recognize our own insignificance in the universe and band together for survival. Compare that to the much simpler ending of stop fighting or blue glowing jesus will scold you.

I digress... it really isn't worth getting worked up about after all it is only a summer movie. A decent one but far from a classic.

Damn you got a lot of meaning out of it. At least for me, when I watch a movie in a theater I just want to lay back and go brain dead. That's enjoyable - just let the director throw the plot at me without having to decipher all the crap, without having to go "wha? wha he say? oh damn can't repeat it cuz I'M SITTING IN A G'DAMN THEATER!".

If I wanted a mind fuck I'd watch some technobabble anime like Ghost in the Shell. Or read a book.
