Well I had an XFX 7900GT for a few years and well, I need to underclock it 10mhz to play games or the screen just changes to noise after a few seconds of opening the game. I opened a support ticket for XFX and it was closed without reason. So, I think it's time for a new video card, or a fix if anyone has one.

I play games, tf2, dod:s, cs 1.6, wc3 nothing too fancy so what would you guys recommend, i am planning to get all the new games like cod modern warfare 2 etc.

I'd either go with the GTX260 (216 shaders) or the ATi 4870 or 4890 to keep up with recent games. What resolution to you play at?

heh... I had this exact problem with my ATI 9800 pro a while back. I had it installed in a Sony VIAO where it practically melted my video card because the case wasn't meant to house such a card. I began to see artifacts and the only way to stop that was to underclock it.

i opened a support ticket and it was closed without a response, so i'm not sure what's going on

Try calling them directly. People have had much better results than doing their returns online. Hell, you might even get a better card out of it.

Well if it is that old of a card, wouldn't the warranty be out by now? If it has a lifetime warranty and you did not void it, then by all means CALL THEM! lol

well i found out i had to register the card within 30 days of purcahse rofl

I HAD NO IDEA!

at least i learned a lesson, time for an upgrade!
