Been running a Q6660 at 8x400 for some time. No problem. But plug-in a Q9550 and try and run at 400Mhz FSB and it blue screens or it fails to boot. Even running 7x400 doesn't work - so something odd about the motherboard (ASRock P45TS) rather than CPU.

Wonder if something to do with motherboard support for 45nm chips vs. 65nm chips.

Any advice on getting 400FSB?

if you havent updated the bios.. then that might be a possible fix for it.. but 400fsb might just be the wall on that board.. what voltage are you using for those speeds?

1.2750v. Can run the Prime95 CPU test (Small FFTs) all day. Its the blended test that stresses the motherboard that gives me problems, Have tried setting Northbridge and VTT to "high" - gives me some stability but not totally stable.

is the ram overclocked? also have you tried raising the voltage on the memory? sometimes that helps as well..

Ram is running the same speed as it had been before DDR2-800 (1:1) and not overclocked.

i would try bumping the NB voltage to high.. and then put the ram at 2.0-2.1v and see if it becomes stable.. sometimes it works.. sometimes it doesnt..
