I'm getting impatient. I need 2 24", 120hz, LED backlit, 170+ degree-viewing-angle-having LCD monitors. Stat.

Why is this too much to ask?

Maybe theres a market for you there to make your own!
Or is that too much to ask?

I just find it strange that every 50 inch LCD TV out there that isn't on clearance is 120hz. When's the goodness gonna trickle down? And no, the 2 22 inch 120hz monitors don't count.

I think video cards need to be able to output @ 120Hz on the DVI port in order to take advantage of a 120Hz monitor. Otherwise the connection will simply default to 60Hz.

Until 120Hz LCD monitors are produced on a mass scale, they will be relatively expensive compared to 60Hz monitors of the same size and panel technology.

The same can be said for LED backlit monitors.

Combine the two and you are talking about an expensive monitor (relatively speaking).

To the best of my knowledge (and I haven't really done much research) LED offers:

1. "Purer" whites (unless poorly implemented)
2. Lower power consumption
3. Wider Color Gamut (up to 124%???)
4. Better Contrast Ratios
4. The possiblity of better blacks if implemented the same way as on an LCD TV (example Samsung A950) *

* Samsung's current A950 flagship LCD monitor series has a LED grid pattern. They never confirmed how many sections, but 128 would be reasonable. Each section has indepent brightness control and can lead to an effect called "white bloom".

Example: A white circle is displayed on a black background. The circle is in the center of 4 grid sections. All other LED grids are turned off for true blacks, however the 4 LED sections where the white circle is will be brightly lit so the black background in those sections will not be as black as everything else.

all of the good monitors are in the future right now

they are OLEDs

120Hz TVs and 120Hz monitors are not at all the same. Here, I'll break it down for you:

120Hz TVs = worthless

'the 2 22 inch 120hz monitors' = great

If you wait, they'll come

BenQ g2400wd = bomb 24" TN for ~300. It will hold you over till the fancy new tech gets broken in and usable.

It will still be awhile before we see what you are talking about there.

QFT. I just read the Wikipedia article. Too bad they are 3-5 years away for mainstream sizes at obtainable prices.
