long ethernet cable vs wireless for lowest latency?

I am going away from my home setup for a couple weeks, taking my desktop and setting up shop at the other location but their router is upstairs and my room will be downstairs.

a 50ft ethernet cable is a bit too short to reach it, but 100ft would be more than enough.

So I was wondering which option would provide the lowest latency.

100ft ethernet cable
wireless adapter
50ft cable (there already) + switch + shorter cable the rest of the way?

Lowest latency will always be with the cable, just do the 100ft cable, as long as the cable is shorter than ~328ft you will see no difference between a 100ft and 10ft.

you could also use a 50ft and 20ft and use a female-to-female connector. But, im sure the100ft is cheaper.

Make your own cable the length you need it?

And to answer the title: Wired, always wired.

Since the 50' cable is already there, and you're only using one system, then a coupler + shorter cable is your cheapest option. As already mentioned, wired will provide the least latency.

$0.36 - Coupler: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=105&cp_id=10519&cs_id=1051902&p_id=1068
$3.52 - 20' Cat6 cable: http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10232&cs_id=1023211&p_id=5010&seq=1&format=2

If you're setting up more than one system, then, of course, a switch will be needed instead of the coupler, or in addition to, depending on the location of where the 50' cable ends.

Wireless always loses to ethernet. If ever given the choice you need to go with the cable.
