Anyone buy refurbished from Apple?

I'm thinking about buying one of the 160gb iPod Classics from the Apple refurbished online store. They sell them for $250, so I figure that the extra 40gb over the newer Classic is likely worth getting refurbished instead of new.

Does anyone have any experience with refurbished Apple products? Was the product like new, or did you have issues with it? Additionally, are there any reasons that I would want to get the newer iPod instead (besides the thickness difference)?

Your help is appreciated.

I got a nano last year for a great price. It worked fine and still does. Only thing that was wrong with it was a scratch on the backside but that doesn't meen to much to me.

Many people in this forum go the refurb route, and generally Apple's refurbished products are top-notch in quality.

I purchased a refurb iMac for my nephew last year, and honestly if it didn't say refurbished on my receipt, I wouldn't have been able to tell.

I purchased a refurb 20" iMac, and I can't be more pleased. You'd never guess it isn't brand new, not a single mark on it. The external packaging is just a plain brown box, but the inside is exactly the same as a new one. I'd definitely go the refurb route because it's a lot cheaper than a new item

I have bought refurb as well and OConBudget's issue with the scratch is a rare occurrence. Every refurb iPod I have received from them has been perfect in physical condition and operation. The only difference between refurb iPods and their retail counterparts are the box that they come in. Given the fact that Apple refurbs purchased through Apple come with the same one year warranty, I don't know why more people don't buy them.

I've gotten a Macbook and Nano refurb from Apple and they were both good as new. Go for it if you can, that stuff usually goes fast.

One thing I forgot to mention, with refurb Apple computers a lot of the time you will find that it comes with upgraded specs that you didn't have to pay for. One of my friends go a Macbook with double the stated RAM and another got a Macbook Pro with a larger HDD.

I bought a 60gig iPod 5th generation during their time and it was a great call. I saved some $ on buying it refurb and it came just as a new one. No problems with it and I've had it for about 2.5 years now.

Apple refurbs are the way to go. I bought a nano awhile back refurb and it came in great condition. I also bought an apple tv refurb and it was also great. Lastly just a few weeks ago I got a 24" imac refurb and its stunning.

Same warranty as new so why get new?

Alot of what Apple sells as refurb have never actually been sold, therefor they tend to be in great condition.

Didn't know that. Then what are they selling? Products that just didn't cut specs and had to be reworked?

Always wanted to buy an iphone 2g refurbished but always get sold out when i want to buy it.

Either go refurb or education discount. If you are in school the educational discount is pretty nice, otherwise, refurb is the way to go.

I've only ever bought from the refurbished store, and everything has been top notch. Same lifespan as a brand new product too. Highly recommended!
