About you.

Well I'm a 39 year old computer nerd from way back.
I have been working in the computer and networking field since the days of the 8086.
My first system I built in the computer store I was working in which was a 80386 25mhz then 2 months later the 486 came out. I wasn't a happy camper.

Where do you call home?

I live in Sioux Falls, South Dakota the Mt. Rushmore state where people from all over the world come to hunt pheasants.

What is your family situation?

I have a loving devoted wife and a rambunctious 5 year old boy.
I'm originally from Idaho where my dad and sister still live. We lost my mom this last March, she had breast cancer.

What do you do for a living?

I'm being a full time dad for the rest of this year and planning on going back to work next year. Not sure what I want to do yet.
I use to do administrative contracts to local companies in the area and handle all there computer and network needs.
I'm not sure if I can be on call 24/7 again now that my son is getting involved with so many things.
I might just find a cushy IT position somewhere and settle in.

Does your forum name hold any significant meaning?

Well I thought about it for about 15 minutes and came up with Razor from the Battlestar Galactica special episode Razor in which depicted that you have to become a razor to survive during war. /Cylon "By your command."
and the rest came from the SupremeFXII logo on the sound board in my computer.

Did you ever post in the "Let's see your mug... " thread?

Heck no

Why or why not?

Like anyone wants see another middle aged balding guy.

What other hobbies or interests keep you busy?

Well I'm a bit of a audiophiliac, I install custom sound system in vehicles in my spair time

Right handed or left handed?

Lets see, In COD I move with my left hand and blast'em away with my with my right, so I'll go with right handed.

About your involvement in DC.

I love the fact that I can do something with my computer that in the end isn't just a waist of time, the fact that my computer can be part of something so meaningful is inspiring.
I like the challenge of the points but love knowing the possible end result that my contribution could make.

Who or what got you stated in DC projects? About when was it?

That would be Bloodgod42. He suggested I check it out about 6 months ago and I have been folding ever since.

Why do you particpate?

I think I can make a meaningful contribution and I was raised by my mom and dad with the philanthropy and community giving values.
I would love to see an end to all of these horrable afflictions.
The world would be a much more happy place to live.

If DC'ing could find a cure for just one disease tomorrow, which one would it be and why?

I would have to say cancer, even though I wish they all could be cured today.
Cancer is just such a painfull and widespread desease that so many people are suffering and dying from.

What projects have you contributed to? Any others you find interesting?

Wow here goes. I started Seti many years back and since then I contribute to FAH, WCG, GPUGRID, Rosetta, Spinhenge and Einstein.
I like anything that can help people or help understand the universe around us.

What teams have you contributed to?

Well HardOCP and [H]ard|OCP of course. Stay [H]ard for life!
I did contribute one SMP WU to some Germany team by accident when I miss-typed team #33 as team #3 in my config file.

Why did you choose the Horde?

Thats easy. If your going to be on a team, be on the best!

If your current project ends, which one will you move on to?

I'll be always be folding for disease curing projects no matter which one ends, another will come along.
There are plenty of diseases that need to be dealt with.

Current level of production and how's it spread around?

I average about 13-25k ppd for FAH depending if I'm doing a little for the GPUGRID or not, and all my dual core cpu's doing WCG at about 2k a day with my single core doing WCG and the rest of the projects I contribute to.

Where do you see the [H]ard DC sub-forum in the near future? Long term?

Well I better see it right here. I have to have someone else to talk to besides a 5 year old.
This is a great bunch of people comming together to accomplish one thing. You all should be proud of yourselves.
When I need help somehere is always at the ready, it's hard to find that anywhere in the world.
I never ever posted in a forum untill I joined this one. This will always be where I'm most comfortable at.

Any ideas on improving the [H]ard DC sub-forum, or suggestions or improvements for our Team?

It's pretty hard to give suggestion to improve perfection.

About your farm
What did you begin with?

I started with a single P4 and a 8800 GTS (G80) video card.

What are you running today?

Today is always evolving, have to keep up with ROC don't you know.
I have added a 2x dual core systems, 1 with and 8800 GTS (G92) and a 9600 GT (G94) and the other 2x GTX 260's.

What plans do you have in moving forward? Where do you see your DC'ing activities in the next year or two?

The next system to be added will be an i7 with as many video cards as I can pack into it.

Do these boxen have day jobs or are they dedicated folders?

Well I use to do some gaming before I became a folder.
I rarely deny the team of points to do this anymore.
I have bought the new COD and the new Crysis about a month ago to upgrade my previous version but have only played maybe 2 hours on each since.

How are these boxen configured? OS, client, etc?

I run Vista x64 on 2 of them and Vista x32 on the other that my son uses whenever he can get me to stop folding on it.
They all run raid 0 and are set with 4gb memory each.

Have you been successful borging? If so, what kind of borging worked for you? (For example, friends, family, and/or work?)

I borged my neighbors computer that he bought from Bloodgod42.
He folds on the 8800 GTS (G92) thats in it
when he's not gaming.

Is there anything else you would like to add? Did I forget to ask you anything?

I would like to thank all of you that contibute to such a great cause, and to all that help support this forum and the people that use it.
Truly a giving community that deserves to be recognized.

My original plan was to not do spotlights on HDCotM winners, but thats all screwed up now. Razor appears to be the early clubhouse leader this month, and the subject of spotlight #8 (soon to be posted) went and won an HDCotM between doing the spotlight interview and me getting it posted. Do I know how to pick 'em? :D

Very good read, Razor is definitely a winner in my book.

Thanks for the spotlight.

Since he made his responses, I would like to add that Razor has been VERY busy with the [H]ard DC Commandos getting teams started on a lot of the projects that we did not have any presence in. Way to go, great spotlight.

A early interview for a early winner :D

lol gives me a little more hope in ever winning HDCotM then.. :p lol jk..

I had to look that up as it sounded kinda...kinky ;). What's a bigger concern though is that you have spare time. What the heck is that.

Great read and a good interview. Congrats on the nomination for HDCotM and good luck.

Nice interview

I enjoy getting to know the folders around here!

Keep it up, Alan!

Great interview brother Razor_FX_II. Good luck on the "full time" Dad endeavor ;)

Being "Pops" for a " rambunctious 5 year old boy" has gots to be one of the most time consuming jobs in the world (only thing equal to that would be a rambunctious 5 year old girl). :D

Brother Razor_FX_II is another fine example. All I gots to say is "Thanks" to all the unsung hero DC'ers out there. While you might not be on the front page of the newspaper, on the tip of anyones tongue or even looked on kindly by some people (global warming, electrical waste, code for R2D2 and friends, etc ) Some people talk bad about DC'ers before they even know what DCin' about. I suspect some people are just too stupid to understand DCing anyway. :p

Always remember, the people we help know, you know in your heart and that guy or guyette upstairs knows. So who gives a flying f*ck what anybody else thinks (I don't )

Folding and WCGing for the CURE

Thanks everyone for your comments. I rather enjoyed doing the questionnaire.
This is a great group of people that I'm very proud to be part of.
It's amazing how much good we can do in the world when we combine our resources and work together toward a common cause.
