Another year, another MacWorld.
(Perhaps the last one, if MacWorld can't sustain without Apple).

Discuss the rumours and reveals in this thread only please.

After the thrill is gone I'll let seperate threads of new topics be posted.

Thanks all.

Anyone know if there is a live audio or video feed from the keynote?

I know there are no apple supplied feeds, but occasionally someone gets a live feed in there

Well, it seems that the MacRumors feed is getting hacked:

9:31 am 4CHAN.ORG /G/URUS FOR THE FUCKING WIN

This is highly entertaining :)

Macrumors has seemingly shut down there live updates due to hacking.
@tronmaster Thanks!

Yeah, I saw macrumors and the crap that some hacker was putting up. Annoying.

Macrumorslive.com is back up but basically worthless, funny read though

iMovie 09 sounds great! Would love to do the map feature and the other stuff, I am assuming it will require more CPU power. *Hint, Hint* Hopefully, the rumour of an i7 chip in the iMac is a reality.

9600m in the macbook pro is a disappointment. Considering you're running at a rez of 1920x1200. Not very good for gaming.
No removable battery.

DDR3 ram is ok but it's running at 1066mhz and DDR2 ram can do that so I don't see the point of going DDR3.

$2799!!!!!!! That's crazy.

Looks like apple caved to the labels about different pricing tiers. As low as .69 but goes up to 1.29/song.

Going DRM free is very nice though.

Haha. Nice announcement for iTunes from the iPhone 3g. I still prefer Amazon.

Well, the Data network for AT&T is down again, for the second time in a week here. No edge or 3G makes seeing if this works now not possible.

What's funny is that Best Buy (where I work) has stopped getting iMac shipments. So the fact that they were doing this told us new iMacs... I guess not.

Also, I really wanted a Mac Mini to compliment my MacBook, but no. Oh well.

Well I was hoping for a new imac so I just ordered a 3.06 24" imac refurb.. they better not update imacs this month

I wonder all of those "leaks" got Apple mad so they decided to release iMacs and the Mac Mini on another day? Sucks big time.

Apple is probably going to wait till after macworld to do any hardware updates, just to prove they can keep up the media attention without macworld.

Pretty horribly lame IMO.

-3G iTunes Store that should have been there from the beginning
-iWork.com which is really similar to Google Apps and yet another thing Apple is going to charge for in the future
-New Macbook which is way overpriced IMO and does not really have anything new and exciting, besides making a big excuse for why the battery is not user replaceable...and we wonder why Apple is not in the main corporate world?
-iWork and iLife just getting some regular little new updates, nothing too ground breaking.
-New pricing in iTunes, but variable and still expensive fom DRM-Free I am sure.
-Tony Bennett!

Only thing I think is kinda cool are the lessons in garageband, but I will never personally use them. I really wanted to see a new mac mini...

I have that feeling as well, just another marketing game for Apple...annoying as heck IMO as they will I am sure get on the news as usual with the "latest amazing thing!" that might not even hold a candle to some of the other awesome things coming out at CES which never see the media spotlight.

I wonder if they're going to allow the option of the anti-glare screen on the 15" MacBook Pro. The Keynote was decent, I do like the DRM free on all of their songs and the ability to download over 3G from the iPhone. Welcomed updates, but as others said, it should have been implemented from the beginning. The new 17" MacBook Pro looks nice; I wonder what the real world battery life is. If it really does get the 8 hours, I'd be impressed.

I think people expect so much from these shows that they forget about little things that need upgrading. Cmon, people were expecting new imacs, new iphones, new mac minis, new OSX, etc. The only thing im bummed out about was no new mac mini, but i wasnt expecting much from this keynote in the first place.

The 17" is pretty ridiculous and extremely expensive.

Overall, I'm pretty unimpressed with the announcements.

And honestly, who in their right minds wants a laptop with a non-removable battery?

Indeed it will. The logo itself sells the laptop almost instantaneously. Now the 17" is out, all those movie and photo editors will jump on it just for the resolution.

I have a hunch Apple's going to use this as a springboard to implement non-removable batteries in their entire mobile line (when they're refreshed, of course). Which is a terrible thought, really. On the other hand, I have to give them credit for providing the matte option on the 17", not that I have anything against glossy displays in particular.

I can only assume the crazy price of the 17" MBP is due predominantly to the new battery and partly to the display. The way the battery's described makes it seem like one particularly expensive item.

If the battery is as good as they made it out to seem, i wouldn't mind. If that really was the case, there would be no reason to take it out. I'm never going to keep a laptop that long anyway.

Worst keynote EVER. Looks like Apple doesn't want my $$$ cuz I was down for replacing my hack with nvidia upgraded mini with 1TB of storage. No show for Snow Leopard and a laptop with a bult in battery, retarded lol.

I have no doubts about that

Well we all know the difference between "estimated" and "actual", so we'll have to wait and see. Honestly I've never gotten anywhere near stated battery life on anything i've owned, apple or not.

True that, my MBP gets 2-2.5 hours max unless i turn down screen brightness way down.

Anyone else excited for the guitar lessons from musicians in Garage Band?

Apple hardware has always been overpriced IMO, but I've always wanted to try out OS X and some of the other apps. I might just get it to run on a VM.

Disappointed that there is no mac mini updates bringing the ability for dual displays. :\

I wonder if they're going to allow the option of the anti-glare screen on the 15" MacBook Pro.

I hope so. A matte option for the new ACDs whenever they come would be nice as well. I'll be damned before I switch from overhead lighting and board all the windows up just to live with a glossy display.

And honestly, who in their right minds wants a laptop with a non-removable battery?

I wouldn't care much. I'll gladly make the trade off for better battery life and capacity. I've never removed my battery in my MBP except when swapping in new RAM.

I think people expect so much from these shows that they forget about little things that need upgrading.

The problem is the stuff they announced really should just be things that came out as they created them, not devote a keynote to it...at least IMO.

3G iTunes Store? More DRM free iTunes? Different iTunes Pricing? These things should all come as the deals are made and setup, not wait till a big presentation.

There is always hope, but I agree with Kaos:

Plus no battery is good for a lifetime, even the best lithium ions only last a few years with the best of care. If Apple somehow overcame that it should have been much bigger news in the whole tech world...but I highly doubt they did.

Non-removable is just greedy, it is easier for them to design a "cooler" looking machine, but it is also a way to make it so you have to send it into them to get it replaced. In a 17" laptop there is no excuse IMO, there is so much room to work with.

I think it is sad that the Apple droids will all buy this laptop for its "green" nature and o so amazing features at $2800, for that price it really under delivers compared to others on the market, even more so than the normal Apple premium which I think we all have gotten used to. Go look at Lenovo's new W700 series for example, around the same price but with actual new features like a Wacom Tablet integrated, second dual flip out screen!, RAID support, pantone color sensor, and better specs.

I want to edit and remark that I am not trying to be an anti-apple person. I respect the macbook and think it is a decent machine at a bit of a premium, but it is not stupidly expensive. This new 17" macbook is really overpriced though IMO, even though it does look very nice and looks more portable than a lot of other 17" laptops.

Unless things have changed, the Lenovo is looking more expensive at $3 (vs $2800), currently has a slightly slower processor (2.5 vs 2.6), comes with less ram (2 vs 4), a smaller hard drive (160 vs 320, though it is faster), a lower res screen (WXGA), and the raid is an optional extra if I remember right. That and that second screen and tablet seem like useless junk. This is just imo, maybe you want a mini tablet and a tiny "second" screen. Not really trying to be negative or flaming, but I thought it was silly that you make the MacBook Pro seem like it is grossly overpriced when comparing to a more expensive machine that isn't fully here yet.

Anyway I am just annoyed. I wanted a new mini
