Microsoft Warrenty 2 days over

Warranty Expiration: 12/24/2008 3:59:59 PM

My xbox dvd drive is no longer working and my warrenty is expired. Has anyone had any luck convincing them to do the repair right after the warrenty? I need to call them today, but was wondering if there was anything I could say to get them to do it for free.
 
Tell them you were traveling over the holidays and didn't have a chance to call them. Being so close they might offer an extension.
 
yea, I would like to be honest, I was just wondering if anyone else had been successful before. If talking to a manager would help, or if they were strict on the date.
 
a lot of times companies will honor warrenties a couple of days up to a month or two even in some cases. Just let them know the situation. Sometimes they are just asses and will go by the book. It's too bad this happened at this time of the year because the tech people are probably being bombarded with stupid questions about setting up ones they just recieved as presents.
It's kind of related, I work as a watchmaker and some very known luxery watch companies have been known to do warrenty work for atleast a month after it has expired.
 
My friend's launch day 360 RROD on him several days ago, MS had no problems with him turning it in for repairs even though the warranty expired.
 
I talked to them, they were nice, and its going to get fixed!

considering the massive amount of returns they have had to handle, i am sure they endowed even the lowest ranked people there with the ability to approve a return.
