Pretty straight-forward issue here, I think I need more air cooling. Right now I am running a total of seven fans and I am using a Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme. There are six fans that came with my Antec Twelve Hundred case (five 120mm fans and a 200mm fan on top) and one Scythe S-Flex "G" 120mm 1900 rpm Quiet Fan that I have on my heatsink positioned to blow hot air off the heatsink to the fans at the back of the case. All of the fans are running at high. The heatsink fan is maxing out at around 1900RPM. I am running all stock settings with the latest P6T Deluxe BIOS. Just sitting at idle right now, CoreTemp shows the following information...

TDP: 147.3 Watts

Core #0: 50c 100% load
Core #1: 34c 50% load
Core #2: 50c 100% load
Core #3: 36c 50% load

I realize that these i7s are suppose to run pretty hot, but this seems kind of over the top considering I haven't even overclocked at all yet. Obviously I need to get another heatsink fan or two new heatsink fans since the one I have now doesn't seem to be doing much. What kind of 120mm fans do you guys recommend for the heatsink? Noise really isn't a huge issue for me, I just want to be able to get a decent OC. Any other suggestions?

I got the CPU up to 3GHz and set Memtest86+ to run overnight and it had rebooted like four hours later when I woke up. I probably have my BIOS settings all screwed up. I wish there was a noob guide somewhere, heh. This is the first machine I have built in six years.

30~50C temperatures are nothing to sweat at! In my OC, they run 40~50C on IDLE! On 100% Load, mine was around 67 to 72C with 3.6Ghz OC. These i7s are built to burn!

You shouldn't need to worry about the CPU core temperatures until they are well-into 80s.

I also have instability issue, but I think increasing vcore and RAM voltage should fix that.

These temps are low. And these are not idle temps. You have your system 3/4 loaded.

What he said. Check it out when actually idle and at 100% load on all 4 cores and 8 threads.

36C is about right for idle at stock speed with high end air cooling.

I've increased the CPU voltage to 1.35 and it's been running great! I've OC'd to 3.7Ghz now and been running Prime 95 for 6 hours and temperature is stable at 79-81C. It's a little warmer than I want: I prefer somewhere around 65-75C on 100% load. I should be able to get that with increasing fan speeds.

Well, the only thing I am doing to OC is up the CPU voltage and the FSB in the BIOS. Are there other things I should be doing?

You might need to crank up the RAM voltage (1.65 or less for safety) if it keeps crashing. You may also want to change RAM speed.
