Post your Fallout3 Adventures (spoilers)

Post some of your adventures, anything interesting you did, any interesting findings, cool areas, funny things, easter eggs etc, try and avoid spoilers for the main plot since most of us wont have finished yet.

I'll start...

In the large graveyard area theres a lone house in the middle, you want to check out the basement for a freaky area with some nice goodies.

Theres a metro underground area which starts near the fire ants, here you'll find a scientist, but if you explore a bit you'll find an audio log about a "package", how to find the key and the "stash", so you follow it through, trapse around doing it all, finally get to a safe, open it up, and it's naughty nightware LOL, just as you're done going WTF, a guy runs up to you out of no where and shouts "OK, Im only going to say this once, hand over the naugty nightware", had me laughing for ages.

In the comic book publisher, this area full of traps and good fun to play, some good bits here, in the main entrance they have a computer which contains logs and letters etc, there an entry which is a letter from a disgruntled fan, it reads a lot to me like a parody of what fallout 1/2 fans are like to bethesda because of their work on fallout3, I may just be reading into it a little far.

Work your way through the building, theres a room with grenade traps in it, and on the bottom floor theres a terminal, it has a Grognak the barbarian computer game on it, it's an old text adventure game, doesn't appear to give you anything from what I can work out, other than a congratulations.

I've run into several patrols of mercs who have been carrying letters that are basically contracts out on my head, for being such a goodytwoshoes, im playing a nice character who helps everyone and donates money etc and these guys want me dead lol.

Theres a police station which is in control by mutants, theres a 911 call centre area with some working terminals which have logs of the last call on all of them, you can read through some which are quite amusing

Just some amusing, little things I've come across in my travels, i have a feeling im not even a tiny fraction through the game, but it really rewards exploration and following through quests even those which start out insignificant.

Here is a quick story.

I was doing the landmine quest and getting beat up pretty bad by the landmines trying to disarm them. Also the guy with the sniper rifle was punishing my armor and my health. Once I found out he had a scope on his sniper rifle I went after him instead.

It was a drawn out battle in vats and I had no more health aids. He finally came down to the ground and I took him out with a grenade. when the grenade went off it killed him and kicked up all the landmines in slo-mo right towards me. I looked at my health and I knew, this was going to be bad. I died and one landmine and the sniper rifle i wanted landed beside my dead body in slo-mo. It was sweet.

I've only done the intro, but if you go into your fathers office during the vault 101 escape, there's a bobblehead on his desks which gives a nice Medicine skill boost.

I just got out of the vault but I have had a "wow cool" moment. I was heading to megaton and I encountered a vicious dog. I fired up vats for the first time and aimed at the dogs head. It died and I continued on my way, heading down a hill. I encountered a bloat fly and killed it real quick. To my surprise something was tumbling down the hill after me ..... it was the dogs head. I didn't realize I had blown the dogs head off, but sure enough it rolled down the hill right in front of me.

I had a similar experience with a Raider with a Mohawk. I Vatted her and blew her head off. The head rolled down hill, so I went to investigate it. I received the "loot" popup, but it said it was empty. Empty head, lol! Ok I have a strange sense of humor.

When I hit the switch to open the vault I watched the door open and had to hesitate thinking about what my character was leaving behind. I also didn't want to leave my childhood friend behind, that was until more guards with guns came.

I've had similar moments, when In the comic book publishers I was killing feral zombies, real fast gits, the were charging down staircases at me, which makes them fly off the top of the stairs and more or less jump the whole flight, managed to get VATS up right as one was mid air, aimed for the head with the combat shotgun, fired and shot the things head off, sends the head flyin back up the staircase, and the body backflips mid air all contorted, come out of VATS and this head slowly rolls back down the stairs towards me before coming to rest at my feet, bloody brilliant

I spent a good 4 hours trying to find my way to the Museum of Technology, and I still haven't found a way there. My brother plays it to and he just told me a route to go.

other than that, I have started to kill everyone I meet.

Someone on Shacknews found this easter egg one last night:

When you are in the Museum of Technology there is a desk on the 1st or 2nd floor with the shacknews logo made out of pencils and a ball.

I guess there is a Lincoln shrine around D.C. somewhere as well.

So I finished the job and nuked Megaton and now I live a life of grand decadance and villainy in Tenpenny Towers and I've used the criminal proceeds to build myself a lovehotel penthouse apartment complete with liquor cabinet, robot butler, christmas lights, and my own Hugh Hefner suit. I can't seem to get any girls to come home with me though much like in RL(&#8482

Not been there yet I will keep an eye out for it. also what makes you say theres a Lincoln shrine somewere? I ask because you're right, in my original post here I mention a house in the middle of the graveyard area, in the basement theres a shrine to lincoln...

Very nice, I'm being the goodytwoshoes still, I've got my own place in megaton now, it's a basic shack with no themes yet, I've managed to get 4 bobbleheads now, strength, luck, repair and medic, i keep filling the fridge with supplies and the cupboards with guns and ammo for when I feel like swapping.

I had a run in with "vampires" today, i wont spoil anything but I'll say that they've not copped out with speech and other stats other than brute force, even as a goodytwoshoes I was mighty tempted to slay the lot of them but using speech options in the diaglogue because i have 10 charisma, actually settled the situation peacably, which was very surprising, I'm glad violence isn't the only way.

Been doing nothing but exploring the map to hell for fun. Came across a gas station with a door in the floor. Go down to find another vault below. Once inside I enter this special chamber and get ported into a virtual reality world. Come to find out that its part of the main story line but man it was a blast. Going to have to play the game a couple times over.

has anyone cloaked and put a grenade in one of the enemies pants and stand back and watch him go boooom yet? i saw it on youtube that alone is pricless lol

Yeah. You dont need to cloak just sneak behind them and pickpocket.

Wow, so I was on my way to ricketgray or town or whatever is in the southwest on the main highway , on my way I see a gas station I stop in for a quick energy drink and such, I come out and think maybe I can make the jump from the broken highway, I head over there.

There is a guy named Ben Channing out of water asking for some, I give him some and then he says he is too weak but will help later, this gives me good karma.

But I fell to my death.

So I reload outside the gas station and come back up Ben is gone.

Turns out its a random spot for various things to get loaded and I will list them.




1.Ben Channing
2.A guy owning three scorpions alone
3.Two Retarded Wastelanders playing with mines.
4.A wastelander Doctor
4.Three Scorpions just hanging out.
5.Two wastelanders arguing about directions to oasis and since i heard them they try to kill you.
6.Wastelander getting pwned by three scorpions
7.A group of 4 wastelander gouls hanging out could not get into underworld, because of mutants so they are looking for a new home.
8.3 of those Talon mercenaries they yell that they are going to attack you but they never do(tenpenny is dead)
9.Scavanger Merchant with a cow and a dog
10.Giant Ant fighting a Giant Scorpion (scorpion owned his ass)
11.Doctor again
12. Ben Charming again

Yes, the 911 call logs are awesome... The drug addicted called log made me laugh out loud... I was gonna put one of the lines into my sig here..

SPOILER.. I also go the skill that makes bodies explode a certain percentage of the time.. Some of the sledgehammer VAC screenshots have been brutally epic. I also couldn't kill this kid I need to find a home for.. He's camping out in his dead parent's house, but when I unloaded my shotgun at his head, I couldn't do any damage.. Kinda pissed me off... I don't wanna find a home for this little fucker yet...

I'm like worst criminal there is tbh. I do criminal work than i kill the criminals after completing it haha

What I was doing in Tenpenny tower was going into rooms with people, then hide behind them, use vats and sledgehammer, and knock them out with one hit. I could kill them and not get in trouble then loot their keys or w/e and all their shit, even their safe keys

Ima have to restart game and complete all megaton quests later because i nuked it pretty quick after i slowly killed everyone in their rooms and looted their shit
I ended up killing Tenpenny, and everyone in the tower, minus few people

Just a tip if you kill the two Wolfgang caravaners wondering around the wastelands near Megaton, I got Rock-It-Launcher schematics - value 799 - from the other one and 380 caps from the brahm. Guess it drops as random but other people might get some good stuff as well. Quicksave and try it out
And now I found the scoped .44 magnum near grayditch, awesome. This game really makes me want to reinstall stalker. which I'm gonna sometime soon.
