I've been thinking about using a 47" or ideally 52" e-peener as a monitor. Anyways, anyone w/ experience w/ one? Pix :D

What viewing distance? I have a 42" and for me that's the limit for desktop use. Any bigger and it would be too pixelated. Of course get a few feet farther away (I watch movies and read ebooks on the couch) and it's spectacular. But if you're actually going to be sitting at a desk and doing work on it, I think over 42" would be hard on the eyes. I think 2560x1600 would be necessary and we won't be seeing 1600p displays for a little while yet.

Here's my 42" with a 24" in portrait mode:

I have a 42" and agree with the poster above..

BTW... nice setup and keyboard... I have that same keyboard..nice!! :p

I was using a Bravia 52" (1080p) for a monitor for a while. Far too large for desktop use IMHO. 24" is my personal limit. 30" if you sit far back enough.

Thanks for the input. Was hoping to get one so I can lax on the bed and make the desk redundant :p Guess that might not be happening.. wonder if BB will let people hook up a computer to sample their TVs :D

I took my Laptop into CC on friday and hooked it up to their 46" panasonic Plasma to test it out. It was so damn clear at 1280x800 (all the laptop would do in 16:9) that when I got home I order the 42" model (they didnt have any instock and they were $400 cheaper at tigerdirect). I hope to get it by about wednesday and I can give you an answer after that, but I think I will be very happy with it.

I use my 52 inch lcd as a monitor, it's totally worth it. Looks amazing at 1080p.

so jelous, i live in a 600 year old pub and the only thing that has stopped me from getting a 50inch philips as a monitor is that my room is on a slope due to the old building :(

cant have that puppy falling down now can we!!! although i am thinking of getting a crap projector to make up for it to watch films on...

I use a 42" 1080p screen and sit normal away, ~2-3' range and looks great. Anything bigger though at this distance would be to much.

I'm on a Sharp Aquos 52" 1080p LCD, but I am going to be "down-sizing" soon to a LG 42" Scarlet 42LG60. 52" is actually a little too big to be practical for PC use unless you can actually sit further back. I have used a 42" screen before and that is a great size/resolution for sitting about 3-4ft away. I will be placing my order tomorrow or Thursday for the new screen. The ultimate goal is to get my PC tower color scheme and my new LCD to match and just look badass.
