I will take pictures of mine soon... I have to study after I'm done eating... I found a thread like this this on http://macrumors.com and thought it would be a good addition here!

Edit... I suggest making another thread if you're not in an IMPACTED major.

Whats an impacted major?

Its when your major has too many students in the program. The school has to require a certain gpa to allow into the major and take the upper division courses. Well thats how it is at my college.

I'm in an impacted major. Its lame, but then again, almost every single major is impacted at SDSU, except for engineering. Go figure.

I lol'd... nice parallel.

Thank you! :D

Exactly...

that doesnt make sense. arent most majors like that? they require a certain GPA to get in?

No. It also depends on which college you're looking at.. UCLA has quite a few impacted majors, but I don't think MOST of them are. When you pick an impacted major, you must apply to that department, where as when you pick a regular major, you can switch between them at your own will. Basically, when you choose an impacted major, you have to keep up with the standards of the majors department which is higher than the universities. I also think it's harder or impossible to switch majors if you're a transfer and have been accepted to an impacted major. You apply to impacted majors and they have higher standards than the university, but you don't apply to regular majors. Science, Finance, Architecture and etc. are usually impacted.

oh ok....cause like i was in biomedical and that was almost impossible to get in. you had to be in the tope 1.5% of your class to even be considered when you just had to be top 10% to get into the university. what does having an impacted major have anything to do with your computer setup though?

I gotta shamelessly use this thread to plug Geology.... I'm a second year grad student, and the school and job outlook is FANTASTIC (starting salaries have surpassed 6 figs for MS degrees) right now. Nobody wants to be a geologist. All that means is I laugh at all you sorry impacted majors :p

Post your setup if you have a pet named April, is currently living in Colorado, have three cars, plays Solitare a lot...blah blah.

I don't think this thread would be a great addition. I mean seriously.

I like the whole Post Your College Setup idea, the impacted major part absolutely kills it though.

I guess ultran00b is the only one who noticed. This is a parody of the post your computer setup if you're under eighteen thread.

but this is kinda a waste. To have nice stuff under 18 takes a little more work then when you are out, have your own place, and stuff. This is just... a waste of bandwidth...

LOL. The point is, why categorize your computer setup by age, class or status? LOL; takes more work. It takes less work because you don't have bills to worry about, hence you can easily have a summer job and buy a $3,000-$4,000 computer. God... HILARIOUS!

okay i think that we should all settle down here. Personally I think the under 18 thread is a good idea because really even though you say that we have no bills and such that may not be true some of us have to pay their own cell phone bill, for your own car, food, etc. On a wage of say 7-10 an hour thats not easy especially as it comes with only being able to work for a certain amount of hours (if you are under 16) and it really can be tough because most of us not all us most of us will have to put alot toward college and really we have to save money for that so yeah. But thats just two cents.

QFT... UCSD FTW! :p just kidding, not trying to bring that "The Smart Ones" BS on here.
UCSD class of '05

:D:D:D:D

I don't see a single setup picture in here, and its a stupidly restrictive category... impacted major? Why not ask for people to post their setup if they own blue scissors?

lol. Thread gone bad?

I'd post my setup but I dont want to feel like the only guy that's contributing...

For everyone too dense, the OP (original poster) decided to satirize the thread:http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1346320. He did it because he thought it was ridiculous that people under 18 should post their setups.

to an extent it is. OTOH, people under 18 are working under different constraints (budgetary, parental permission, etc.). if nothing else, consider it a kiddie table :p
