Adult Web Sites

Can someone explain to me how these "FREE" adult websites work?

You know the ones, the main page has a thumbnail of whatever you're into, you click on it, it sends you to an official adult website that has 4 free movie samples.

My question is what's stopping anyone from making their own "free" site? (I understand many people don't do it because it is not ethical or because they are married, etc.)

Do you have to pay for the link/thumbnail that you use on your main page of the adult content?

you can submit your site to hundreds of other sites that "crawl" your site, create a thumbnail and add the link to their site. Some are free, others you pay to submit.

Anyone could make their own free porn website, but why give your content away for free (unless it sucks)

Porn can actually be pretty expensive to produce, the fees for "models / actresses/ actors" is going up, photography equipment is expensive, and there is way too much competition out there.

I presume that the samples are just to entice people in. I suspect that links to these websites are then sent to the well known 'free' websites.

Nothing to stop you linking, except how are you going to find the addresses to the free samples?

Many of those sites are honeytraps to make you visit a webpage that will install malware on your PC if you have any browser vulnerabilites.
Others get their revenue from adverts or from you joining a pay site.
There are sites hosted by people who just want to host porn cos it gives them a thrill lol.

Like Nenu said, there are adult site affiliate programs where the "free" site gets a commission if their visitor ends up joining a linked pay site.

There are also adult PPC (pay per click) programs along the lines of Google's Adsense (which doesn't allow porn sites).
