I think my Belkin router is dead and I'm confused.

...or else my networking skills really need help.

It's been awhile since I've had broadband here at the house, and I'm unpacking stuff I had from the last time, before things went sideways. In question tonight, is this Belkin 54g, Wireless G router. (model number on request)

I have it hooked to the DSL modem. So far, my wife (on her wireless laptop) and me (on the Computer, with trusty ethernet cable) can access the internet fine. I cannot for the life of me access the admin web interface. I've tried belkin's suggestion for ip addresses with no luck. I've tried my frequently used ip adresses,. with no luck. It seems from the IP addresses the two computers have, that the modem is handing out the address, not the Belkin.

I'm sure I'm missing something, and it's probably simple, but what?

Are you sure the modem is plugged in to the router's WAN port, and not a LAN port?

do an ipconfig on both PCs.
what is the IP and default gateway they are receiving?
a 192.168.x.y?

didnt really read the full thread, but i just replaced some ladys belkin yesterday and today.

quality routers!

indeed. I've been running a linksys with dd-wrt lately and I couldn't be happier with it, would recommend them for anyone else if they're planning on picking up a home router.

my 5 year old Belkin F5D7230-4 Version 2000 is set to 192.168.2.254... see if that gets you anywhere...

also check in the windows networking under the Support tab, what does it show for the Default gateway? As long as it is 192.168.x.x then type that into the browser
