I have been researching this for months and have not been able to find any solution. I have a ATi Radeon HD 3870 graphics card and on the side of the box it says "Built-in HDMI and 5.1 surround audio." I'm using a DVI to HDMI adapter and using an HDMI cable from the card to my LCD screen. But for some reason the only audio device that is available is "Realtek HD Audio Output" I have tried installing multiple versions of the Realtek ATi HDMI Audio driver but every install stops halfway to this error "No driver was supported in this driver package" All my audio drivers are up to date and I am running Windows XP Home Edition SP3. Does anyone have any ideas why I am receiving this error?

Isnt there an internal hook up you need to connect to the card? As far as i know, the 3870 only passes audio through with the internal cable. You didnt mention hooking that up...

I am using an ATI adapter it came with the card. That cant be the problem, why would Diamond include an adapter that doesnt carry audio when the card does? I have also tried BOTH of those files the one on the ATI site doesnt seem to do anything, and the Realtek one still gives me the error "No driver was supported in this driver package"

My 4870 shows HDMI audio under the sound properties control panel. I am using Vistax64 and it found and installed the driver right away when I first booted with the card. You can try going to device manager un install all of your sound devices and reboot and windows should automatically find the driver if your runing vista. Not sure about xp.
