QFT. A friend of mine got burned on the XFX 8800GT deal they were doing. I got mine in, he did not. Naturally, he was pretty pissed about the matter.

Nah, that was too good to be true at that price. No clue if they'll honor it, but you could eBay it and make an instant profit. I've been looking at an Elite for months and was ready to jump on this, but it disappeared quickly and is back to $450 this morning.

A couple of people on slickdeals have already had the Elites delivered (with pictures... see around pages 35-37 on the SD thread). Several others are reporting getting shipping notifications and tracking numbers. :p

I got in about 15-20 minutes before it ended.
 
Some one mentioned it was likely not the Falcon chipset, and they were just trying to clear old holiday inventory, so it very well may be honored and never was a pricing error...and now they are simply out of the old stock.
 
shit... i was about to order one. looks like i'm too late to the game.
 
It looks like it wasn't a pricing mistake. So far from SD it seems majority are getting their orders shipped (including my order). Some even received their order today. There were a couple that got canceled, probably due to other reasons. It seems Dell had a certain amount of stock to sell at the $299 price or they were just getting rid of old stock.

god damnit i hate you all, i really could have used this too.... i could have made up most of the difference by selling my crappy older xbox (i dont care if it isnt the absolute newest innards, the elites in general have better cooling and insides even if it isnt the falcon i beleive).

I bought mine around the holiday and it most definitely is a Falcon chipset.
 
I am glad to hear some of you guys are getting confirmations, I wish I had found this deal earlier so more people could have gotten in on it, I didn't see the SD post or the post on Engadget until after the deal was dead.

At least we got a few people getting in on the deal. :cool:

I hope most of you guys got through to this; aside from the regular library there are a lot of great XBox Live Arcade games that are coming out right now. Braid is one of the best games I've played in a very long time, and Bionic Commando: Rearmed (a redo of my favorite NES game) is out this week! :D

I don't think you understand what that means, especially the switch part. :p

Anyways, Dell is shipping the Elites. Mine is shipped and scheduled for delivery on Tuesday. It looks like virtually al lof the 2200* consoles ordered while it was on sale are getting it too.

* 2200 is the number quoted by someone at SD who called into Dell to ask about the deal, where is was confirmed not to be a price mistake.
