Jetpack Dude Lifts Off, Barely

Yeah I agree, I don't consider that a "jet-pack", it's more like a small Cesna strapped to his body.
 
woulda been funny as hell if, as soon as he landed, the other jetpack dude did a low flyby at 180mph! WHOOSH!
 
These people need to watch some movies to make practical jet packs and other cool shit.

I don't want to see a jet pack with two huge drums on the sides with a seat.

Give me Boba Fetts jet pack and I'll be happy. :)
 
Mythbusters couldn't do it either. But they were way more entertaining to watch. After watching that video, I demand my time back!!
 
Wow. Should have kept on going past that post. Didn't even go anywhere. Nice attempt though.
 
I thought the dude who jumped out of the plane did so because the pack wasn't powerful enough for liftoff.
 
If I reversed my Dyson I could get further off the ground.

lol! Yea, that would be great. I think the guy with the two huge drums on his sides is really weak.. I can hardly consider that a jet pack. He has two ppl holding him the whole time =/
 
That is the most exciting thing I have ever seen... next to snails racing. Seriously, one can only wonder when they will stop making the same damn jet packs that 'almost fly'.
 
It's only a jet pack in so much that it shoots two jets of air towards the ground to achieve lift. The thing is obviously not stable enough to make it worthwhile. That's why those guys are there...to make sure it doesn't fly off and injury/kill people in the crowd.

The jetpack guy faction posted is a guy that does promotional flyby's. They are rather limited in length to somewhere between 40-60 seconds due to the fuel required.

No one has been able to build a good jetpack simply because the lift to weight ratio is not enough to achieve liftoff...and if they do it's incredibly unstable. Also if they do it requires too much fuel to make it worth a damn. It's only good for promos at air shows and media events and such.

The millitary has one in testing which seems to work okay, although it's not a small little jetpack like we are used to in games.

gay -- he never flew -- he just used the fans to decrease his weight and have two dudes hold him up.

WTF? Flying? No way. I agree that it barely lifted him and the other guys just held him up.

VERY VERY weak compared to everything else that has been done. I can get more air off a can of beans and a few beers...
 
That guy must have been stuck in a garage full of beer, fans and weed-whackers for a lonnnnnng time.
